3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, USA - DEC 17, 2009
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Garnet hued caramel, large foamy white head, very nice lacing, lively carbonation.   Somewhat of an alcohol infused citrus zest nose, hoppy but not overbearing.   Bright, alcohol, citrus flavors on the tongue.   This one has some fire for sure.   Not biting at all, but it is very warming.   Could use a little more malt body, but otherwise this is very quaffable.   Moderate sweet finish, warming, balanced but as I always tell Dave, more malts.   Would like to see it a bit chewier.   As is its rather pleasant, and a real sipper.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BillKismet (2753) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Peach-tinged amber, dense frothy head. Lemony hop nose with candied fruit presence. Not so much of an old ale (as the title at Publican) indicates as a strong ale--one that could use more aging. Hoppy body with strong bitterness. Sour-bitter finish.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe. Reddish auburn in color. Aroma was very fruity, with caramel and flowers. Alcohol presence was mild. Flavor was pretty balanced and drinkable for me. Caramel, flowers, and fruit. Alcohol was not very present. Pleasantly surprised.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - APR 5, 2009
On tap at Hard Liver Barleywine Festival 09, Brouwer’s Cafe. Definitely a signature brew of the Northgate Ram. Crystal clear caramelly medium amber. Loose, sudsy, grayish head. Tangy, prickly, boozy butterscotch nose. Creamy, medium, still body. Somewhat woody (from the malts, not from oak), toasty, slightly resiny mid-palate. Mild finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2009
Tap at Northgate Ram. The aroma is of floral hops, a hint of citrus, caramel, toffee, and some bready notes too. Pours a bright copper color with a thin head. The flavor is soft malty sweetness, caramel, toffee, toast followed by nice floral hops and some alcohol. Lighter than expected in terms of body. This was pretty easy to drink all things considered. A pretty solid barley wine.
