Draft at the South Hill Puyallup Ram. Outstanding representative of the style. Deep, rich amber color. Malty, mapley sweetness, with a nearly perfect touch of hops. Perhaps just a touch heavy on the palate for a fest-marzen, but I’d drink plenty more of this.

Few pints at The Ram in Salem,OR.. Watching Oregon get done over by USC. Nice looking clear copper coloured, small white head, quickly goes to leave wisps. Good malt driven aroma, nice and fresh. Caramel malts dominate the taste, smooth, with a tinge of bitterness. Good on the palte, well balanced and very drinkable ..which seems to be the whole point of the excersize. Overall a very good American rendition of a Oktoberfest/Marzen, quite authentic. Once again though looking at reviews, the level of differences between the brewers at Ram locations is evident.

Schaumburg. Semi-hazy and a dull glowing orange in color with no movement elsewhere. Sweet malts are kicking in the aroma, and has me thinking about honey and vanilla and a touch of lemon herbed mayo. Flavor is nice and sweet, pulling from caramel and roasted malts. Fuller bodied. Imparts a quality akin to honey roasted hazelnuts. Some grain and corn husk contributions. Overall, a pretty good seasonal specialty.

This was a very taste beer in my opinion. I enjoyed drinking this. Big flavor, with a strong malty sweetness, with strong cinnamon flavors. A bit of a hop bite ensues at times but is not very present overall. Mostly this one has strong roasted nutty flavors and is slightly bittersweet in the finish. (On tap in Boise, ID.)
