Cask gravity at Gbbf 2011. I mean I love Oregon. I love the people the beers the wine the countryside. I will try to bear all of this in mind befre I drink a style that celebrates some kind of mythical Scots drink. Cloudy hazy mid brown with thin ring of bubbles. Its a very hoppy peppery esb. Yes some toffee yes some alcohol body but its an esb. Its a very decent fruity malty beer with good hop on end. Touch alcohol syrup but fine nonetheless

Tap @ Big Horse... Poured amber/burnt orange with a white head. Aroma had some peaty malts and sweet grains. Very fruity, some caramel candied sweetness, vanilla, almond paste, muted earthy leafy hops, and a mild malt with a hint of smoke. Lingering malt finish.

Amber color, clear with a thin head. Good malt aroma with a lingering peat/hops. Malt was roasted with faint peat smoke and toffee added. The hops made for a good balance. Very nice Scottish.

Pint at the brewpub. Poured a hazy amber with little to no carbonation and a small white head. Aroma was peaty, nutty and slightly grassy. A little abnormal aroma for the style I thought. Flavor was malty, quite a bit of cocoa and some peat. I thought this was a pretty solid beer, not sure why the reviews are so lousy.
