Tap @ Big Horse... Poured near black with a khaki head. Aroma had some roast, oats, and coffee. Very roasty, slight chalky and metallic taste. Oatmeal creaminess with malts, cocoa, and a toasty coffee bitterness.

Big Horse Brewing – January 2010
Dark brown in color. Thick dark roast with chocolate and coffee aromas. Flavor was rich with dark malts and the coffee came off quite nice. This very nice and was great to drink.

Dark brown with off-white creamy head. A sweet aroma with hints of oatmeal. Oatmeal very apparent in the body, with a bitter hop finish and a creamy mouthfeel.

4oz samples at brewery - Aroma or dark roasted malts, chocolate and oats. Flavor matches with some coffee mixed in. Palate is creamy and dry. OK but not outstanding.

Dark chocolate body with little carbonation and evanescent head. Pleasant, refined chocolate coffee in the bouquet. Ok roasted flavor. Medium bodied. Light chocolate and coffee notes. Supposedly retired, I had this on tap 7/5/09 at the brewpub.

On tap at the brewpub. Color was jet black with a light brown head. Aroma was very oaty with a good amount of roasted malt. Hint of meatiness throughout. Flavor was meaty with not much sweetness. Oaty, roasted and coffee as well. Pretty good beer.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and coffee aroma. Roasted malty coffee and chocolate flavor. Has a hard roasted malty chocolate and coffee finish.

By far, the best beer at the pub. Black, with a thin creamy head. Tremendous smoky peat/burnt malt aroma, Very malty, with coffee and malt dominating. Finishes dry for such a heavy beer.
