Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head as this beer warmed up it became a huge malty brew. Lots of dried fruit aromas alcohol and good oak aging. This was a very good barley wine. Good for the cold chilled night near the Hood River

On tap at the brewery. Pours amber wtih a thin white head. The aroma and malt flavors were syrupy sweet, but the palate was relatively lighter. Reminded me of Steelheads wheat wine. Sweet caramel flavor, fruity, with a honey flavor to it. Much lighter on the palate then I thought it would be. For 14% the alcohol is well hidden.

This was a thick syrupy barleywine, huge citrus hops, caramel sweetness, smooth silky mouthfeel. Alcohol is present, but nicely masked by a really sweet mouthfeel. Still quite young, but I agree, this will age nicely.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2007 Tap at brewery. Rock solid BW!! Jason really hit the nail on this one. Deep ruby/chestnut colored and clear. Moderate beige/yellow head subsides to a scant ring, leaving delicate and sporadic lacing behind. Pleasant estery aroma with banannas and pears mixing with a sweet caramel undertone. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Coating and sticking to the tongue and palate. Booze is hidden exquisitely for 14% but still warms the belly without an esophageal burn. Sweet caramel flavor with plenty of estery presence. Nice hop balance in flavor. This one should age nicely.
