COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hallertau, Mt. Hood hops. 40% wheat with honey malt. Brewed for sour cherry conditioning, but it was a bad crop year.

(Draft: Big Horse Brew Pub in Hood River, OR) Called Stair Walker Wheat on my visit in early August, this looks like your basic wheat beer, but it definitely tastes closer to a Belgian Witbier. It’s not all that spicy, but there’s more than just a hint of coriander in here. Very lightly sweet, and pretty mild bitterness too. I’m trying to pick up something in the nose, but I can’t make out more than just a touch of wheat aroma. Dark straw color, slightly cloudy in appearance. The small whitish head rapidly fades to just a wisp off near the edge of the glass, and doesn’t leave any lacing on the glass. Pretty light overall for a wheat beer, and just not a beer catching my attention. Note: after talking with the brewer about this seeming like a witbier, he told me he had a witbier on this tap before putting the wheat on, and despite a thorough cleaning, traces of the witbier could still be tasted. So, this is just a very basic American Wheat, and there’s definitely no coriander in it.

Tap. Medium amber in color and rather clear. Sparse white head with little lacing left behind. Light aroma, no real distinct aromas, perhaps a touch of wheat malt and a little sweet smelling. LIghter bodied. Flavor is on the sweet side with pale malt and wheat detectible. Fair for style.
