4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 boFNjackson (2933) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 3, 2011
Tap @ Big Horse’s Brewpub... Poured vibrant, golden-amber/orange with a white head. Lots of alcohol burn on this one and a strong hop bitterness. Earthy, zesty, citrus with tangy yeast esters. Pine, wood-like, candied malts, and earthy squash.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Beardface (1497) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - NOV 25, 2009
Pint at the brewpub. Poured a beautiful light orange with a solid inch of white foam topping it off. The aroma was an awesome and intense blast of pine and citrus hops with a whiff of biscuity malts. The flavor was extremely well balanced between the grapefruit, pine and malts. This felt like liquid gold going down my throat, and was the best DIPA I’d had in a very long time. If only we hadn’t gotten there right before close I would have had to quaff a couple more of them.

Hood River Hops Festival 2008. Pours orange with a white head. Big grapefruit floral hop nose, really bright and crisp. Sweet body up front, candy citrus and caramel, heavy body with a big floral finish. I thought this was the star of the festival.

Draft at Hood River Hops Fest 2007. An unclear brownish beer with an orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of grassy hops. The flavor is sweet with strong hoppy notes of grass and grapefruit, leading to a bitter finish. I like it.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 TheBeerLover (1019) - DC Metro Area, USA - OCT 24, 2007
Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Hood River, OR. This beer pours to a slightly hazy, deep golden to light amber color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is very fragrant, with big aromas of citrus, pine, and peppery alcohol. The palate is firm, with a good base of pale and hints of caramel malt, with big hop flavors, of lemon/grapefruit, and pine resin. This beer finishes with more pale and caramel malt, and big hop flavor, then ends with a piney hop bitterness, and peppery alcohol burn that lingers. A hop cocktail of a brew, this beer is not for the timid. Big, bold aromas, flavors, and alcohol. The perfect after work/after diinner drink, or a night cap to take home in a growler.
