COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(I.P.A). was developed in England around 1800; the extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style has developed a following worldwide. Ours begins with smooth, malty creaminess and a big burst of dry-hop flavor and aroma from a variety of American hops. It finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness. Is it Overboard? You decide.

Bottle from Top of Waikiki restaurant 251114. This is a big IPA with fresh hop aromas and a big intense flavour. Probably the best Hawaiian beer I have had.

Bottle shared by Allen, thanks! Pours a near clear golden orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bitter citrus with a hint of resin and a bread backbone. Flavor has same bitter citrus with a good amount of grass and a light grain.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (sugar cookie, caramel, bread), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot, resin), with notes of peach and dried mango. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Quite nice, if a little out of style...very malty and beefy for an IPA. Lots of tropical fruit notes. Some resin too, but it’s mostly behind the nice fruity aromas so doesn’t really detract much. Good stuff.

Bomber brought back from Hawaii. Really strong passion fruit aroma with slight hoppy notes. Pours cloudy golden colored with a big white head that dissipates quickly and very little lacing. Starts with sweet passion fruit flavors along with grapefruit citrus and acidity. Finishes dry but remarkably smooth, especially for an ipa, with the grapefruit flavor and acidity lingering on the palate afterward. Excellent ipa.

Hoppy fruit aromas, appearance is slightly cloudy, taste is hops sweet, carbonation is balanced but not subtle, finish is citrus pine and sweetness seems like it is passion fruit. Good ipa

Very nice golden color and large white head, as pored from the large, 650 ML bottle. Back to an IPA that has the strong bitterness I have come to expect, or did, before trying some Japanese craft IPA’s. the hops really stand out in typical IPA fashion. It gets a bit smoother as you progress through the glass and turns into a nice, freshly bitter beer. This is back to the real taste of a classic IPA done right. Strong and full bodied, but doesn’t fight you all the way down.

Sampled at GABF 2014. Glad to find this brewery after making a note to myself to make sure to try their stuff. Overboard IPA pours a typical golden body with white head. Nose is soft citrus fruits, light bitterness suggested, faint spice and fruit. Mouthfeel is nice soft citrus fruits, maybe a hint of mango & melon and pine as well. Really solid offering.

Slightly hazy, aroma is not all that bright, maybe on the dank side. The taste is mellow, a little hop spicy, but just ok.

Bottle: Poured coppery with a off white head. Aroma was mild citrus. Taste was a nice balance of malt and citrus hops. Well done!

Clear transcluent yellow. Nose has citrus and pine. Taste is all hops with pine and grass on a caramel body. Taste ends rather suddenly but otherwise an excellent IPA.
