Bottle 75cl from Carrefour, shared with Fabien G. @ his place. Aroma of cacao, dark chocolate, flowers. Taste is quite sweet at first, then bitterness pops up through a long dry and bitter finish, with hints of cacao. Good stout.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers,Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at Barry & Lynns, Wednesday 28th January 2015 Pours black with a huge foamy light beige head. Wonderful bitter chocolate, its very good the dark cocoa excellent, its malt laden/heavy there is a gentle warmth, its a lovely rich and smooth beer, a tad one dimensional perhaps but who cares on this occasion and particularly when it is as good as this. UPDATED: SEP 6, 2014 Bouteille 75cl.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Following the first batch which was brewed at Jandrain-Jandrenouille, NovaBirra again came to Belgium to brew this second batch at De Ranke. Thin, light beige head, colour close to black but not entirely so as a ruby red hue is still visible. Complex malty aroma, dates, bitter chocolate, coffee beans, apple sauce, biscuit; profound malty taste, rye detectable if you are familiar with it, lots of cacao beans effectively added and further adding to the complexity, finish a long toasted, mouth-filling bitterness, full and creamy mouthfeel. Not the most complex imperial I tasted so far, but a great beer nonetheless, undoubtedly with great ageing potential.
