3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark cola-like brown wtih a thin light tan head, the aroma smells delicious with piney and citrus aromas up front followed by some coffee and malt, The taste honestly was a let down for me, the aromas promised so much but the taste is lacking the hops and the malt is pretty subtle. This is basically a good brown ale with a bitter finish.

Draft. Dark brown with large off white head. Light roasted malt with citrusy and piney hops. Surprised how hoppy this is.

Bottle. Gigantic head on the pour, very carbonated brown pour. Aroma of earth, brown malt and a nice citrus note. Nice rich malty and nutty flavor, with some earthy hops in the finish. Citrus notes emerge.

This one is dominated by milk chocolate with a roasted malt backbone. Not hoppy like an iPad so this one is mislabeled. Too much chocolate for my liking. Had at home out of a 16oz can.

Medium brown pour wit a beige head. The head on mine was huge. Something may have been wrong, though no infections were noticeable. Sweet malt, light citrus, light roasted malt, chocolate. A medium body. Light bitterness and a mild roasted finish. Pretty decent IBA.

22 ounce bottle from Binnyís. Chocolate and light malt. Light body. If it was hoppy, no more in a significant way. Decent.

650 ml bottle purchased at Binnyís Lincoln Park. Deep brown color, dare I say muddy brown. Aroma is earthy malts, dried leaves, damp top soil, with burnt caramel and cocoa powder.
Flavor is pretty much the same with a slightly amplified hop profile. Hop some more pine to me then anything else with bitterness being only low and mildly lingering. Citra hop doesnít show up for me much at all. Decent with a dry texture that does make me want to take another sip take.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a deep ruby red/brown color with a tan head leaving a bit of lacing. Aroma is mostly roasted malt and a touch of hops. Taste is of burnt caramel and roasted malts with some coffee. Donít notice much of a hop presence. Finish continues with the roasted coffee theme. Not a huge brown ale fan, but this isnít too bad.

Must everytting made in america be a *-IPA? End of rant, the fact is that the beer is still good despite the fact that it claims to be a hopped up american brown ale. Being an american brown ale would mean, I think, itís already hoppier than the style likely dictates. Ok, end of rant. really. The color is that of a brown ale. It does have malt. It does have hops. Itís very drinkable.
