UPDATED: JUN 30, 2015 The beer pours a very clear copper color with a small white head. The aroma is almost only toasted malts, but the is some butter sweet malts there as well; the taste is mildly sweet and a touch umami with not too much exciting the tongue in the aftertaste. The palate fuses a soft carbonation, light body, and slick texture. Overall, it is a bit one dimensional, and it could’ve had some nice depth.

A friend handpicked this beer as one of three fillers for a six pack to bring back to me in Hong Kong. I like to try different beers from different brewers but to be honest, the packaging is not all that attractive to me, and I probably would not have picked this off the shelf. Poured the 12oz bottle into a pint glass. It poured a clear dark rusty amber colour with a one finger head that dissipates quickly and no lacing. Smells of malt, maybe plum and apple, but a hint of metallic at the end ruined it. Taste was a bit light and thin. It was like watered down plum juice with an unfortunate light metallic aftertaste. But it went down easy with medium carbonation. Overall it’s not bad and it feels great in my mouth, but the flavours could be more pronounced and the beer would improve plenty without the metallic smell and taste that lingers at the end.

[Bottle] Pours a clear dark amber color with a fizzy beige head. Light nose of yeast, caramel and sweet malts. Notes of caramel, toasted bread, raisins, light roast and cocoa in the taste. Average body and dry finish.

All around not that great, but the aftertaste (palate) is really good, hence the decent rating.

Bottle from Binny’s. Clear amber pour - looks like a very watered down cola. Small wispy white head. Malt and grain. Dusty/earthy. Lighter palate with a dry finish. Simple, and fairly dull. Not my flavor profile.

Aroma: grains and caramel malts. Appearance: clear brown, medium, creamy, beige head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: turning bitter and dry very quickly. Overall: boring. Pint at Big Brew, Morristown.

Pours copper / amber with a good sized off-white head. The aroma has red fruits, toasted malt, brown sugar and spice. It has a medium body that is fairly crisp, but also has some smoothness and and some sharp carbonation that has a bit of restraint to it. The beer starts off with dry caramel, toast, earthiness and tree bark. The finish has a bit of vanilla, still the earthy harshness, some dark fruits and a bit of molasses / licorice. Pretty decent.

Bottle. Pours dark amber brown with off white head. Nose and taste of toasted chocolate malt, light roast malt, licorice, burnt grain and light grass. Lighter medium bodied.

This pours a semi-cloudy amber color with a foamy beige head. The aroma is mostly malty with not much else that my nose could pick out. The flavor is rather simple with an average taste of grains and malt. There is a lingering grassy grain after taste.

Pours a clear dark amber. Not bitter, but does have a bit of a champagne aftertaste. A pretty good beer from a local brewer. Will look out for more from Big Muddy.
