Bought it thinking it was a Munich dunkel. It is a dark brownish amber. Smell is light slightly metallic, hoppy. Tastes like a standard brewpub brown ale/red ale/amber ale combo. Not interesting in the least bit. Drinkable because of the lack of character. Do we really need this many amber ales?

22oz bomber from Pick’s poured into a lager glass. Pours a clear nut brown with about 1 finger of white head. Slight hop aroma with some toast and chocolate. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly sour. Chocolate and grapefruit. Interesting combination. Light bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Not really my style but absolutely drinkable.

Draft at Plainfield MWBF. Pours an attractive deep reddish brown with an offwhite head. The nose is pretty restrained. Some faint bread crust and a kiss of hops are noted. On taste, the roast is a bit ouf of character for the style, the beer is on the dry side and actually quite well made. Just seems to be lacking in accuracy. Sweet melanoidins dry out to a roast induced finish. Decent.

22oz bottle 8/30/11 (Binny’s Plainfield)-44° in english Pint-Pours a hazy amberish brown with a two finger tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and sweetness. Taste of the same with a bit of chocolate coming thru as well. This medium bodied brew is not bad. Easy drinking and well balanced.

From the bottle, this pours a clear brown body, highlighted with amber around the edges. It’s capped with a creamy beige head and leaves some slippery lace behind. The aroma has some chocolate, toffee, soft nuts, and a subtle earthiness. Smooth. The flavor is bready with cocoa, dark toffee, nuts, and a mild nondescript bitterness. Very drinkable, malty without a heavy sweetness. Pretty nice.

This was my last beer at the Great Taste 2010, and it was nice to finally track down a bottle to review. Into a tulip, Saluki Dunkel Dog pours an attractive reddish amber with bright jewel-tone clarity. About a finger of foam on top, that remains for the first few sips, later forming a ring around the edges. It laces nicely with spindly arcs of lace dripping down into the beer. As it warms, there’s a nutty malt character that comes out. Simple multigrain bread and clean toasted malt notes. This translates directly into the flavor, very malt forward with nutty, bready flavors of mutigrain toast. Little to no hop character, but there is a faint bitterness in the aftertaste. Zero diacetyl, corn, DMS. Exceptionally clean, obviously all malt, no adjuncts. Body is crisp and light, the flavor isn’t wild and crazy, but it’s a fine Amber Ale. Finishing the bomber is no problem. One to pair with many foods, suitable for any situation. A good introductory craft beer, simple and well made. Simplicity is vastly underrated these days... obviously no one is trying to reinvent the wheel here, just make quality craft beer for the locals. Hope to see more from this tiny new Illinois brewery in the future.

Sorry guys.... nice try but you didn’t capture it. Smell is of bacteria nature, something not seeming quiet right. Peppery, a bit peppery. I’m not worried its not near my home.

22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy, deep amber-brown colored body with a finger-width, creamy, light tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is pretty solid with clean, fruity caramels, some chocolate, a light roast, and some bready toast. Flavor is similar. Sweeter caramels with some bready toast and a moderate fruitiness up front. A bit more of a roasty dryness is present with some chocolate and earth. Finishes with a nice, clean earth, roast, and light grassy hop that leaves a dry, light bitterness mixed with a moderate caramel fruitiness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a medium, smooth body and moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent Dunkel. Well balanced and easy drinking. Nice, fruity caramel and light chocolate with a solid earthy, roasty balance. Not bad.
