COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the centuries-old Bavarian beer, our Harpoon Munich Dark has a dark, balanced maltiness complimented with a moderate hop finish. We introduced this beer in 1998 and received first prize for Best Beer Overall of 1998 in BarleyCorn Magazine

Draft. Deep dark black color. Lots of lace. Nice sweet, malty flavor. Bready but light and possibly sessionable. Nice beer

Tasted on 2/3/12 from a 12oz bottle purchased in a mixed six pack at my local Kroger grocery store. Pours a very dark, nearly opaque, cola brown with a thick tan head that slowly recedes to pretty thick lace. The nose is malty dark cereal and bread with a nice dose of dark chocolate and coffee, and some green hops. The flavor is a little lighter, and more bitter than the flavor, with the bread and cereal a little more subdued, and the coffee and dark chocolat coming through nicely on the back of the palate. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long, bitter green hops, coffee, and dark chocolate finish.

A decent beer, had this one at Sevens Bar in Beacon Hill, advertised as "Sevens House Beer". Malty with some nice roasty toast flavor. A good session beer.

Bottle. Mahogany pour with medium off white head. Caramel malt aromas. Slight rasin flavor gives way to toasty malts and a nice minerality. The taste is reminiscent of love bugs on a hot chrome grill, but somehow this is not off putting. Copper pennies too. Weird review, I know, but I like this beer.

Pours a lovely chestnut clear brown with a fine head. Aroma is slightly piney hoppy with a well balanced roasty note. Flavor follows, very well balanced, hints of munich and pine with a bit more roast. Body is slightly watery with spritzy carbonation. Very nice beer.

From a bottle, the beer was rich, malty with complex malty and caramel notes, pleasant aroma. Lacking any yeast character typical to a dunkel, this was a nice drinkable beer.
