This was the big winner out of the sampler. Worthy of a whole pint. Lots of big chocolate and coffee flavors. Very smooth creamy and easy to drink.

Very nice appearance. Had a blackish brown look. Flavor was nutty and pleasant. Wasn't overowering. Nice beer.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Coffee, chocolate and plums are all present in the aroma. Brown-black body. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a lightly bitter, roasty finish. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: decent, but need a touch more body and flavor.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap, EPCOT, 3/04. The tail end of service for this special beer, according to the server. Looks more schwarzy than stout-like on the pour--not much head, pretty black, but thin looking. Aromas of light roast coffee, light slightly burnt diner coffee, and bakers chocolate. Light texture is spot on, little carbonation present, thin body on finish. Roasted malt presence is pleasing with a bit of a surprising hop bitter back end. Not bad stuff.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: APR 18, 2004 Chattanooga Big River location. Pours thin, black and uncarbonated. Nutty smell, with some dry spice (cumin?) also present in the nose. Iron Horse has a coffee flavor, with a dry and smoked finish. This may sound appealing to many, but this profile too far from my preference for a sweet stout for this to be a personal favorite.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Atlanta (Iron Horse): Dark black color, CO2 pour, light head and no lacing. Roasty aroma, very creamy, not too sweet. Light columbian coffee and chocolate (dark I think). Flavor is vague at best, pretty flavorless. Finishes dry and bitter but smooth. Eh.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer rocks! Pours as black as used motor oil. Medium-sized, creamy, beige head. Great retention and thick, creamy lacing.
Brown tea, charred wood, dark chocolate and cola in the aroma.
Very well-bittered to balance out the deeply roasted, chocolatey, full malt. Also, astringent with notes of charcoal.
Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, burnt, crisp, dry finish. World class beer!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft-Big River-Chattanooga, TN. A smal sized tan head that was creamy and smooth and contained fine-small bubbles that mostly dissipated. This beerwas uncarbonated and it had an opaque body with a black hue. It had a malty and coffee nose and a sweet and mild coffee flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth, watery and thin and light bodied. This beer had a good lacing to it.
