3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JAN 25, 2009
On draught at the Big River Brewpub south of Vancouver, BC. Pours adark copper brown brew with a creamy beige head that slowly dissipates to a thin off-white ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some roasted nuts, a hint of flowery hops and toffee. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of roasted munich malt, a hint of toffee and roasted nuts. Finish is light in flavor with a crisp finish with hardly no aftertaste.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - AUG 4, 2008
Draught at the brewpub Dark mahogany color; creamy head. It has mild notes of roasted malt, not too invasive, nutty, with low bitterness. Easy but not bad.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 crazychuck (16) - CANADA - JUL 19, 2008
Also had the vanilla/honey cask version of this. All told the many flavours confused the palate, with the sweetness of the honey battling the slightly burnt vanilla for dominance.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 CCCP (16) - , British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 19, 2008
Had this in a cask, primed with Honey and Vanilla. Very dark brown, with a molasses nose and the very faintest touch of a head. The vanilla was very overbearing. I found this beer too sweet in general - maybe it was just the cask.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Beershine (4710) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - AUG 17, 2007
Tried at a beer festival. I believe my notes reflect that because my ratings are much lower than for those who have tried the brew at the brewpub. I should mention also that generally this is not my favorite style. A thin and disappointing texture with a correspondingly light to medium body. Alright. It is fresh beer.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 29, 2006
(Draught) Sampled on November 23rd, 2006 at the brewpub. Thin white head with a red-brown body. Nutty roasted malt nose. Toasted flavour has an almost sugarless cocoa powder and marzipan undertone. Nice complex and easy to drink!
