2008 MBG Winter Beer Fest. More complex than the Walldorff Imperial Stout I sampled prior to trying this beer, but also a bit rougher around the edges. Good complexity with chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and dark fruit/prune tones, even a hint of bubblegum. Sticky.

Sampled at MWBF 2008. Decent coffee scent with what looks to be a nice thick pour. A little on the sweet side, but without enough roast i thought. Good, not the best.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours an oily opaque with a wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet molasses, licorice and some citrusy hops with dark chocolate. Body starts sticky and earthy with some dark malty and plum complexity with a sticky, doughy finish. Oatmeal palate has good sweetness and balance.

GABF 2007: Poured a dark hazy brown color with a tan head. Roasted sweet malt but pretty light. the flavor was tart and roasty. Medium light body.
