COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The English brewed this style of stout for the Russian Czars. One thing was certain. This beer wasn’t going to freeze at twelve percent alcohol during the cold Russian winters. This stout is brewed with twice the amount of malt & hops of most beers. The flavor is very roasted, coffee, sweet and a hint of coconut. It goes down warn due to the higher alcohol volume. We serve our Russian Stout in a brandy snifter to let it slowly warm up to release it’s entire flavor. A great beer with cigars.

Opaque black beer. Frothy short lived chocolate coloured head. Subtle chocolate malt nose. Airy and semi soft palate, semi dry. Licorice dark malt with a blackcurrant undertone. Bitter dark chocolate. Some spice towards the dry finish, a trace of coffee and a little hop. Decent without ever reaching that sumptuous feel of the best RIS.

Draft sample at MBGF07. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy roasted coffee and dark chocolate malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Heavy roasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Bottle... C&P’sLYFO Throwdown... This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a tiny, creamy, light brown head. Chocolaty, nutty aromatics. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Acrid, bitter and tangy – very deeply roasted, burnt, molasses and acidic notes. Burnt, bitter finish. Thanks to northernbrews for sharing the bottle! Draft...GABF ’06. They were calling it "Got Rocks? Russian Imperial Stout"... This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale. Small, creamy, light brown head with an orange tint. Chocolate, vanilla aroma. Well-balanced flavor is sweet up front with plenty of burnt, bitter notes on the backside. Full-bodied and oily with medium carbonation. Burnt, bitter finish. World class stout!

12 oz bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. I am guessing this is the right entry. Pours with a black body and a tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, chocolate and a bit of trash. Taste is nicer though, chocolate, roast and molasses. Light carbonation and syrupy.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours an oily opaque with a wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet molasses, licorice and some citrusy hops with dark chocolate. Body starts sticky and earthy with some dark malty and plum complexity with a sticky, doughy finish. Oatmeal palate has good sweetness and balance.
