3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hotstuff (3249) - USA - MAR 21, 2008
Draft at Big Rock Chop House & Brewery.Small ivory head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, very little carbonation observed, transparent, and a golden hue. The nose was moderately hoppy, citrus and grapefruit. Ditto for the flavor and finishes dry. Smooth, dry mouthfeel and medium in body.Quaffable, balanced, a little too hoppy tasting for my liking; however, hopheads will probably enjoy this beer. Worthy of a try.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 RyanMM (410) - Ferndale, Michigan, USA - DEC 30, 2010
On draught at Big Rock Chophouse, 5/9/10
Copper, medium head, moderate lacing, grassy aroma, nice hoppiness, highly drinkable ipa. The hoppiness is present without being overbearing. Hop finish doesn’t linger.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 NobleSquirrel (2671) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 27, 2010
Draft at RBSG 10 as a guest keg. Pours an attractive coppery orange, fluffy foam head. Nose is fresh citrusy hops, light caramel and bread. Taste is smooth bitterness, sweet caramel and more bread. Some orange blossom and grapefruit as well. Decent.

Draft at the brewpub. Ok nose with a thick white head. Taste of citrus, grapefruit, maybe some tartness. Malty is its downside! Pretty decent though.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Braudog (4606) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - JAN 28, 2010
Draft pint at the brewpub. Very light in color with a light foam top. Light soapiness takes this beer over; a little bit of sour blood orange looming in the background. Just so-so. (#3816, 1/25/2010)
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 alexsdad06 (2344) - Ohio, USA - JUL 5, 2009
Draft @ BRCH. Pours a clear dark golden color with a medium off white head. The aroma was a welcoming blend of lemon citrus, light pine, and moderately sweet caramel malt. The flavors were more crisp lemon citrus, oranges, some pine, a nice caramel malt base, sweetness early with the bitterness coming more in the finish. Medium bodied, creamy, and very easy to drink. Enjoyed this as an appetizer before the food came out.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 masonjer (605) - Holt, Michigan, USA - JUN 19, 2009
Can’t believe I never rated this one. Bought a whole keg of it for a food pairing dinner. I drank quite a bit of this stuff. Just very balanced overall with a creamy mouthfeel. Nice citrus and bright grapefruit. Really refreshing and nicely piney. I was impressed with this one. Wish it was easily accesible.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 swoopjones (3429) - Buffalo, New York, USA - APR 13, 2009
On tap at BRCH. Nice solid IPA. Balanced, pours a nice deep amber. Solid bitterness. Very drinkable. Piney citrusy hopped with right amount of malt presence. Nice IPA
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 iowaherkeye (2504) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - MAR 5, 2009
12o bottle--sticker says 4-08 (whatever that means), I think from CharlesDarwin--or was it mbirder? Thanks either way! Hazy golden with a two and a half finger off-white head, good retention, but does seem to be fairly overcarbonated. Aroma has big big citrus up front--lemon and orange--and seems to have the acidic tang there as well--hopefully not infected. There is also some pine and caramel malts, but is predominately citrus. Flavor--seems like they put orange juice and made a beer out of it. Some sprucy pine needles make themselves a bit more apparent in the flavor as well. Very fruity, but is missing some of the sweetness from the fruit. Bitterness peaks around a 3-4 in the dry finish. Medium body and a little overcarbonated. This is a very interesting beer--sorta reminds me of Buckeye’s ’76 IPA in that it has so much fruitiness. Pretty good though!
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 auerbrau (2662) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - JUN 5, 2008
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2009 12oz Bottle. Flickr(http://www.flickr.com/photos/26049401@N0 Fresh pine-filled nose. A bit of sap and boughs. Orangey. I believe this has a good dose of centennial. Brisk and lively. Pours a mid-orange with a tight lace of off-white. Flavor is deep and creamy, but the body doesn’t hold. A great hop flavor extraction. Alcohols blend in with this incredibly clean, fresh pine flavor that carries orange rinds, balsam and fir. Delicious hop flavor. Unfortunately the body evaporates a little too much. It’s light and airy and dry, which I all appreciate, but the body precipitates just a little too much, letting some slightly harsher, brazen resins in sooner than they should. Maybe I’m mis-reading this beer. It has impeccable drinakbility for this lesser weight, but I believe some of the excellent hop fireworks would show more if the body stayed in the game a little longer. It also lets the alcohols peak higher. Otherwise, great hop choice and extraction. Nice, clean fresh and dry. Thanks Steve!
