NOTE: Released at the Summer 2008 Michigan Brewers Guild fest as "Cherry Popping Danny’s Sour Fruit Beer"

This is our Tripel recipe re-fermented with tart cherries from Michigan then aged in an oak barrel with a wild yeast strain for a complex flavor that complements the cherries. 8.5% ABV

WOW... Pours a flattish amber color with very minimal white head. Aroma is cheap vodka, nail pollish remover, dumpster, and robitussin. Taste is vile and putrid. Tastes like poison. I took my first sip and it was Three Olives brand Hot Trash Vodka. The second sip, which was all i could stomache, was more of the same. This is a whole new level of bad.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2013 Bottle thanks to mikem409. Pours a deep, slightly golden red with a small off-white head. Aroma is very vinous, boozy, some cider and cherry aromas, a lot of alcohol. Taste is just awful, almost nothing but alcohol and some stale cherry flavor, not much more to say on this one. This beer has decent ratings so maybe it’s just a bad bottle, but this is a drain pour for me.

Draft at the 2012 Michigan Brewer’s Guild Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Like a liquefied, giant cherry Spree or Jolly Rancher, odd, not altogether unpleasant; tart and very sweet.

12oz bottle. Pours a thin, watery looking pink with almost no carbonation. Kinda looks like a rosé. Aroma of rubber cement, rubber bands, and wet cardboard. Don’t know about this one. First sip is kinda shocking. Medicinal, astringent, and slightly acidic. Second sip is definitely better (although not much) once the palate shock wears off. Still slightly medicinal and metallic, more of the oak begins to come though with the cherry notes, which is subtle. Finish is kinda rude.
