This is our Tripel recipe re-fermented with tart cherries from Michigan then aged in an oak barrel with a wild yeast strain for a complex flavor that complements the cherries. 8.5% ABV

12oz bottle from the mighty hoppymeal - thanks, Derek! Dusky red/brown pour with a modest amount of prickly carbonation here. Nose is fairly soft skins/pits of dark cherries, tart but balanced out by the wood. Taste is very funky and astringent, more like Red Poppy than a tripel. Very tasty though!

Bottle shared by puzzl via Eyedrinkale. Pours a reddish orange with a pinkish white head. Very cheesy aroma-some cheese rind, earthy barnyard, oak and a touch of subtle cherry skin tartness. Creamy on the palate. Starts with a lightly sweet vanilla-like oak note that mingles with lightly earthy brett. Some cheesy notes come through. The cherry is subtle but detectable and is more tart than sweet. Pretty tasty and interesting. Well done.

Courtesy northernbrews. Pours a clear light caramel orange colr, with a tiny white head. Smells of a nice blend of cherry, caramel cream, bourbon, and light tartness. the flavor is pretty tart up front, the cherry is evident as well, but the bourbon notes I got int he aroma, were nonexistent in the flavor. pretty solid brew overall.

Bottle from EDA, shared with some folks, thanks Mike. Darkish orange red pour with a small, fizzy head. Tart cherry and sweaty malts dominate the aroma, some menthol, some wheat. Vanilla, oat, bubblegum... this actually smells great, very complex, the more I smell it the more I get out of it. Flavor is funky up front, sour cherry in the middle, with a nice maltiness lurking in the finish. Sweetish and rich, tons of vanilla oak, really quite delicious especially as it warms.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 12oz bottle from derek. thanks HM.....pours a reddish copper brown with a medium white head.... aroma of caramel mustiness, really earthy. not much in the way of cherries....strange amalgamation of flavors. cherries, vanilla, coconut, and sour tartness. decent carbonation.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 Big thanks to ogglethorp. Pours a hazy, almost glowing ruby orange with a thin white head, leaving spots and streaks of a white lacing. First whiff is a really pleasant wave of sour funk, but the aroma fades rapidly. Flavor begins with a lot of tart fruit, cherry, green apple, and a little grapefruit. This sourness lasts through the whole tasting, but midway through, the earth, wood, sweet vanilla, and creamy funk from the barrel and wild yeast set in. Definitely one of the funkier beers I’ve tasted. Lingering funk and cherries. Thin to medium body, pleasantly effervescent, lingering creamy sensation that goes along with the funk.

Bottle shared at EBF tasting. Pours an amber body with a thin pink lacing. Sour cherries, tart, with a light woodiness. Some light etoh warming with more cherry and some light vinegar.

12oz unlabeled bottle courtesy of hoppymeal. Pours a clear light ruby-orange color with nice looking pink tinted head that laces the glass as I drink it down. Nose is tart vinegar with hints of cherry and wood. Taste is kind of tart with subtle hints of cherry. Some wheatiness and a bit of a dry finish. Decent brew, but not really a tripel and not all that sour. Thanks for the opportunity to try this one out Derek.
