JoeMcPhee (4061), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 22, 2008 Thanks to notalush for sharing this. Pale golden hazy beer. Aroma is very soft and tart. Funky with a soft chewy fruit skin tannic character over a rich funky tartness. Sour and fruity with a touch of citric sourness. A bit chewy on the acidity and there is a bit of acetone-like character, but it’s still pretty nice. BBB63 (3865), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 4, 2007 MiBGF 07: Slightly murky bronze hue with a small foamy head. The aroma has a nice heathery, floral hops, dusty yeast esters along with a hint of cherry pit and apricot vapours. The taste has a smooth malt base with a dash of tartness around the edges supported by a hint of pepper and wood upon the finish. This beer is grounded with a yeast and wheat character throughout. The mouth feel is smooth and soft with the exception of the quick acidic bite and a dry woody finish. A wonderful surprise indeed and one of the best of the fest. Not a classic Biere de Garde nor Saison but wonderfully tasty! Eyedrinkale (3163), Beer Town, New York, USA Dec 20, 2008 22 oz bottle. Copper with hardly a head. Flavor has some nice barnyard with a sweet nuttiness. Could use a little more tartness but its really easy drinking. Ughsmash (3148), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2008 Bottle at the pre-DLD hotel tasting, thanks to artusory! Poured just lightly hazy medium golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma showcased sour fruit skins and vinegar backed by pale malt and toffee sweetness.. dry peppery yeast accents.. quite vibrant. The flavor had sweet, sticky fruit surrounded by sour vinegar and dry cherry dust.. sour finish with even more vinegar.. complex and very enjoyable. Sour, dry, and well-balanced on the palate. I’d love to try this again sometime. Pailhead (2339), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Jul 30, 2007 On tap: Nice bretty sourness in the aroma with some faint cherry sweetness. It’s a hazy dark orange with a moderate white head. The flavor starts with some quick yeastiness and faint cherry in the background. The finish has moderate bretty lemon sourness with some faint woodiness. Very well done.
