dryer and less creamy and chocolatey than most in style, this beer finishes very bitter. Very good, but it cannot compete with their elegantly crafted session ales.

Big thanks to miketd for trading away this one! Hand bottled from brewer, vintage 2005 and bottled in 2007. Poured a dark black color with just a trace of a brown head. Aromas of cocoa, vanilla, roast, some dark fruits, and some wood and smoke. Tastes of dark cherries, chocolate, roasty, woody, and caramel. Alcohol content hidden.

Dark hard alcahol look from tap. A straightforward mix of just about every possible flavor in a imperial stout. Medium body contains some dried fruit sweetness and a medium alcohol finish. Not over the top in a good way.

Bottle picked up for me at a brewers dinner awhile ago. Think this was bottled in 07. Pour is black with a tiny beige/brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Tastes pretty much the same...but kinda subtle. A bit thin.

sampled at Lansing Winter Beer Fest 07’...dark body with reddish brown head..aroma of smoke, bourbon and oak, chocolate and coffee...flavor is a bit more subdued, but offers heavy chocolate and coffee complements to its slightly woody backbone
