2009 MiBGWF: Deep amber hue with a small fading head and oily legs. The nose displays a huge caramel and sugary vapour along with bittering hops, ripened fruit and alcohol. The taste is a big WOW, big malts and booze with a spicy rye like background. Hints of marzipan and candi sugar. The mouth feel is sticky and oily with a heavy full bodied character, very warming indeed. This is almost too much, 20% ABV? I would say so as it is big, brash and in your face. Not for the weak of heart.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2009 Pours darker amber with some beige bubbles on top. Kind of light in the nose. Mostly caramel and booze. Flavor is a big shot of candied fruit and booze. Syrupy mouth feel. Warm finish

MIBGWF 09. Pours a rich copper color with a nearly non exixtent head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, alcohol, floral hops. Flavor is alcohol, floral, caramel, raisins, brown sugar. Palate is medium to full bodied, light carbonation, finished sweet and hot. This was said to be 20%, and while it certainly tasted like it, it wasn’t a total train wreck.
