Mild wheaty nose with a hint of hops, the liquid is brown edging into red, and when tasted, has a quick hoppy dash that fades into thick wheat. slightly bitter aftertaste mars it a bit.

Aromas of bananas, caramel, light chocolate. Flavours of caramel, burnt almonds. There’s a cloying sweetness and the finish is weak. Boring.

Quite enjoyable. pours a nice brunt brown colour with a decent creamy head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is rich with caramel malts and bit of hop spiciness. At first sip I notice that it is well carbonated which brings out the sweet malty characteristics. This brew has a very sweet finish and is almost like a creamy light chocolate soda.

Bottle. Medium brown with golden highlights, medium off-white head. Aroma is bananas, caramel, light spice-- all just a little muted unfortunately. Palate leans more toward caramel, light estery fruitiness and light spice. I never got to try this on tap. I suspect it would be much better (the Scottish ale was).

Pours a dark brown. Some dries fruit on the nose....and on the palate...otherwise there is not much else there. An off-putting booziness in the finish of the beer.

Pours reddish with a small light white head. Inviting low intensity aromas of caramel. Medium intensity, body, and aftertaste. Round creamy texture with sweet roasted malty flavors. Rich quality. Appreciated

341ml bottle pours a reddish brown color with a finger of light beige head leaving little lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and hints of nuts. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with a bit of nuttiness and a mild hop bitterness. Medium body and light carbonation. This is just ok for a dunkleweizen.

Draft at Flatlander’s beer festival. Dark reddish colour. There’s a definite chocolate aroma and flavour, but overall it comes across a touch too watery. Decent, though.

Had on tap at the Winkin’ Owl in Calgary while passing through town. I admit Dunkelweizen is not my favorite beer style but even trying to be neutral I couldn’t see anything special about this brew. Taste kind of like Erdinger Dunkel, but not as much depth. I wish I could have tried the Rauchbier instead.

Powertrip (841) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 11, 2011
A pint at the Craft Beer Market in Calgary, AB on 07/11/2011. Colour: Dark brown with low light brown head. Nose: A fine blend of nuts and grains, foccacia spices, hint of root beer. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, light sour, Nuts - but the more bitter ones (walnut, pine). Some suttle caramel comes through mid palate and the finish has minute traces of aboyut 90% high quality cocoa.
