Lubiere (3184), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 6, 2008 A dark clear reddish brown ale with a thick moka head. A skunked coffee aroma of espresso with light metallic notes. In mouth, a light watery stout, with light chocolate bitterness, pathetic and sad. No body whatsoever. Tasted in late nov. 2006. Bottle from Presario. carruthm (357), Seattle, Washington, USA May 1, 2008 black pour with a bubbly head that goes away quickly. Lots of carbonation makes it feel cola-ish with cold coffee undertones. mabel (1583), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 22, 2008 [1051-20080113] Bottle (w/ tuqueboy). Dark malt aroma has a hint of coffee beans. Dark brown body with a quick foamy light tan head. Creamy coffee flavour is mostly malted grains. Medium-full body. Disappointingly uncoffee-like. OKBeer (1104), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jan 9, 2008 Sampled at 2007 Brewnosers’ Christmas Gathering. Black colour with some ruby highlights and a mostly diminishing frothy tan head. Coffee and roasty aroma with some caramel notes. Light coffee and chocolate, but not much else. Light to medium bodied, thin and watery mouthfeel. All the espresso in the world couldn’t save this stout’s lack of body and overall dearth of character. tupalev (2285), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 30, 2007 Bottle, courtesy of Jerc. Mild coffee/roast aroma. Black with lots of brown/red tints. Nice looking small bubbly beige head, but it disappears really fast. Incredibly thin and watery body for a stout. Taste is ok - cold coffee, some roast no linger at all. It just ends in water. Not good at all.
