0.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 Cole (919) - , - JUN 10, 2010
clear golden yelow no head. Aroma is light and a little minty. It tastes terrible. Like the spent grains after brewing. It reminds me of cheap hobo brands. Fucking big rock!
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 pushkinwow (864) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 2, 2012
4oz pour at the Bon Appetit charity event in Ottawa. Clear gold with a struggling white head. Little cold but lots of grains, some malt and very plain. High carbonation, little body, mild sweet, slightly stale aftertaste and just not that good. O well - at least I didn’t buy a six pack or have an entire pint.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 30, 2012
Purchased a 6-pack of this at the LCBO. Pours a light golden colour (slightly hazy) with a small head that disappeared quickly and left nothing, expect a tiny ring where the brew and glass meet. Grainy aromas and that’s about it (but still pleasant). Same for the taste, cereal grainy malts with hints of hop (that I am not sure work together) and hints of honey in the aftertaste. Nothing really exciting here, but a decent lager that shows some micro characters.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Narnad (1147) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Clear golden color with a low white head and lots of fizzy carbonation. Musty grainy nose, light lemon and some mild grassy hops. Flavor has some grainy with some sweet, slightly acidic lemon and banana notes, very light wheat malt touch to it. Overall a solid everyday brew but nothing special to set it out from the pack.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hammy78 (486) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 24, 2011
Had on draft at Moxie’s Burlington Ontario Canada. Pours a light colour with a white head and some layers of lacing left on the walls of the glass. Smells and tastes malty. Smooth.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 reebtogi (2161) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 22, 2011
Pint on tap at On the Rock’s. Was a clear straw color with a thin cap and no lacing. Aroma is unpleasant and taste is cheap malts and hops. Big Rock is certainly heading off course with this one. Tastes just like any other macro beer.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cirrhosis (931) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 16, 2011
Beer stolen out of my parents fridge at the cabin. First impression of this beer is Big Rock is going after the Marco drinkers because this looks tastes and smells like most Canadian Macro’s but most similar to “Kokanee” but with some added quality. Perfect gold body with no cap just some pathetic looking bubble islands. Aroma seem slightly off with hints of egg and heavy on the metal. Taste is way better very grainy, almost no bread, metallic hops, nice sweet malty finish. Has a good thick flavor. Not bad really, I’ll say the only real problem I have with this beer (except the fact it’s a lager )is the slight apple I can taste. Given limited options I would drink this again.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 JohnBarleycorn (537) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2011
Can. Typical gold-coloured beer you’d see in every made-for-TV movie. Signature aroma is wet bread with alcohol in the background. Marginally refreshing, but a too-rich malt finish kills the final impression. Overall, a very bread- and cereal-heavy beer. A poorly constructed lager.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 northropfrye (845) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 25, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 2, 2011 Bottle. Welcome to dullsville. Clean and clear, but lacking all character at all.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Spab (1194) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 23, 2011
341 ml bottle from Beer Store. Pours a clear light golden yellow with wispy white head. Aroma of moderately sweet cereal grains with maybe a hint of grass. Taste is dominated by sweet cereal grains with a little fruit and a very light grassiness in the finish. Not unpleasant but pretty dull.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 gramity (601) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 23, 2011
Golden yellow appearance with decent head. Smell is hard to detect. It does have a grassy, citrus hint to it though.
Taste is also very light, picked up a grassy, grain taste though. There is a hint of corn. Body is a bit watery but clean with decent carbonation. Aftertaste is surprisingly very malty.
Overall this seems like a good summer beer.
