2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 25, 2012
Originally rated September 2005. This wheat ale pours a golden colour with light carbonation. Its white head is decent, leaves lacing and has good retention. The aroma is mostly wheat, but quite mildly. Slight wheat at the beginning of the taste and finishes with a mild grain malt/corn mouth, into the aftertaste. Decent summer brew, but prefer the Upper Canada wheat instead.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 SHIG (2530) - Osan, SOUTH KOREA - DEC 30, 2011
Draft @ Korea location: Poured a clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is light hops and grain. Taste is crisp clean with little wheat affect, seems more grain and corn.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Powertrip (756) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 25, 2011
Single bottle from my uncle drank and rated on 12/25/2011. Finally rating this after years of drinking it. Colour: Light gold and yellow with minimal white head. Nose: rich grain in a blanket of light sugar frosting. White bread yeast. Faint hint of irish cream! Taste: Medium sweet, medium-light bitter, light sour. Sugary grains, vanilla frosting, bitter kick in late-middle and a dry grainy finish. Decent stuff.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 CharlesDarwin (2567) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - OCT 7, 2011
12oz Bottle, purchased at an LCBO in Ottawa, Ontario. This is an ancient rate from memory, to get my Alberta tick. On my 21st birthday, my buddy and I bought at case of this and put most of it away before a Wilco show. Then, the next morning, as we had to drive back to Michigan, we finished off the last two bottles at 8:30 in the morning before hitting the road. I remember buying gas at a French-only gas station across the river and thinking about how it felt to have a light beer buzz in the morning and being in Quebec as the rain fell softly. There wasn’t much notable about the beer, it had a gentle wheatiness and the kind of drinkability that’s needed for a random Canadian road trip.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 whitecap (161) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 29, 2011
341ml bottle from the LCBO. hazy yellow with an utterly disappointing white head. Extremely thin, light bodied wheat ale. There is nothing at all special about this. Highly generic. boring. Overall would not buy this again.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (1528) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 22, 2011
341mL bottle poured a pale golden color with a small white head and spotted lacing. Aroma is light caramel and cereal. Taste is malty sweet with some caramel notes and a dry hoppy bitter finish. Light to medium body and moderate carbonation give this beer a decent mouthfeel. Overall, a wheat beer that is a little different than most.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 trapped (145) - TURKEY - AUG 19, 2011
Tasted at Bier Markt, Toronto on 10 July 2011. Filtered wheat beer on tap. Clear yellow color with small with foamy head, no discernible aroma, slight taste of hops, medium carbonation, abrupt finish. Not very distinctive.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 solidfunk (434) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 16, 2011
Not sure about this overall - it seems fairly light but actually has a type of caramelized finished, the slightest hint that stays with you for a while.after
