Pale in Colour, Not Flavour
If hoppy makes you happy, this Pacific Northwest-style IPA is your beer. We brew it with two kinds of delicious Yakima Valley Cascade hops, in such a way as to deliver the maximum heavenly hoppiness to your tastebuds, with the minimum bitterness.

Little Known Fact
The Cascade was the first North American-made aroma hop and the first hop variety from the USDAís hop research program to be approved for sale since prohibition. Itís aroma is now one of the hallmarks of North American craft beer.

355 ml can poured at home. hazy and amber in color with a medium frothy head. Very little hop smell or taste for an IPA. Doesnít come with the typical bitter aftertaste either. A previous review called it an IPA for lager drinkers. Drinkable beer but not what I would consider an IPA.

Aroma very faint for an ipa. Not very bitter. I think its made more for a lager drinker, not a hop head. Found it was ok, as casual beer to drink not something to yearn for.

Pours earthy brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is a messy malt profile. Taste is more malt forward, with some earthy hop bitterness again on the moderate side.

Pours a deep copper with a mushy one finger cap that lasts about as long as a plate of nachos at my local bar after work. The can -- in both its copy writing boast of "if hoppy makes you happy" & the cheesy pics of fresh green hops -- promises hops but youíd be more likely to find peace love & understanding than you are hops in this brew. And for that its a bloody fail. Sure, itís properly classified on this site as an English Pale Ale, but to sell this as a hoppy IPA is wild horse shit. Not the worst beer -- itís a punchy, malty ale thatís ok. But I think itíd be more honest to paint the can brown & talk about the malts in the beer. Itís a caramel bomb. Total fail.

I never expect much from Big Rock, and they always deliver. Their beers arenít bad by any means, just very "middle of the road"; always playing it safe. This IPA was very wet, grassy, and had a bit of a watery mouthfeel. Pretty decent.

Bottle. Clear amber pour with a thin white head. A fairly light IPA. some caramel notes and okay hops through the aroma and flavour. Light body.

Pours a clear amber with a short-lived off-white head and spotty lacing. Nose is dominated by biscuity malt, with only very faint hop aroma. Taste is sweet malt with only a hint of citrus. Mouth feel is medium bodied with low carbonation and a bitter finish. Oh dear. This is about as much an IPA as Alexander Keithís "IPA" - which is to say, not at all. Disappointing aroma, no hop profile to speak of, and a malt dominated flavour, with the bitter finish being the one high note. This is more like an English Bitter or Pale Ale than an IPA. I really canít recommend this much above a macro adjunct lager.

Can. Amber pour with a frothy off-white head. Malty aromas of candied fruit. Flavour is malty with fruit and herbal notes, only a light hop character. Not sure if you can really call this an IPA - much too malty, and while some hops do come through in the flavour, it's pretty light. Also a bit of an odd herbal flavour similar to some other Big Rock brews, like Grasshopper.

can from the beer store, brand new on the shelf so had to try/ IPA ? thats a stretch, maybe Indiana, not India. More of a APA in my book , tasty but way to light for an IPA. Like all the Big Rock stuff safe but right down the middle. Colours good an nice beer not a great beer, OK Iíll drink the other one.
