2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 fullers (240) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 11, 2010
Can BC Liquor Stores Sampler Pack. Pours pale straw yellow with no head. Faint aroma of lime. Light bodied with subtle citrus notes. Went down like water, which is perhaps the point. Perhaps a higher score on a hot dusty day.
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 pintbypint (1975) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 5, 2010
Leftover rating from last summer. 355ml can. Gold colour, surprisingly full white head with decent retention. It has a sweet lime scent, not much else. Grainy and dry in the mouth, subtle lime. Aftertaste is grainy. Light bodied. A bit less artificial tasting that BL Lime but not really that much more interesting.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JesseM (1099) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 16, 2010
Pint at McMullan’s in Waterloo. Purchased because I don’t f***ing know why I guess I was drunk. Taps a straw yellow with a large white head. The aroma is surpisingly light on the lime, kind of light on anything really. Flavour is pale malts upfront met with some minor limey elements. I like that the lime aspects actually play sort of a background role here. It’s not oozing with obnoxious artificial lime flavouring. Actually almost enjoyable, and hey, if someone water-boarded me with it I still wouldn’t talk. Too bad I just despise this moronic trend in shittily flavoured swill.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 CapFlu (4010) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 29, 2009
(Can) Sometimes you don’t know why you are sampling a beer, other times you don’t care. I suppose this would be the latter as, in recent years, I’ve tried to drink beers that are appealing and avoid the mass market stuff. But on the Plains, sometimes you become intrigued or confronted. A can of Big Rock Lime stared at my during the brief period of opening my brother-in-law’s fridge. Now I never expected much, and this didn’t let me down on that front, but this would be my first of a lime-series macro... and I can honestly say it wasn’t as bad as I had feared. Obviously lime-centric, but some watery grain base. It looks horrible with a straw-coloured body and an artificially large white frothy head - but you can drink a 6-pack of these to become hydrated. It is what it is.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Lubiere (8243) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 7, 2009
A blonde lager with a thin white head. In aroma, a light mix of lime and malt. In mouth, a light adjunct laced lager with a sharp lime attack, mineral water, boring. Tasted Nov. 6 2009 at Ottawa Wine and Food Show.
1.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 VerticalBaconStrips (1897) - Assat, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 12, 2009
Consumed in Brad’s hotel room in Jasper. Super light gold, small white cap, dissipates to nothing. The aroma is a bizarre Tostidos Lime blended with perfume, odd malts something or another. Pretty much terrible. The taste is just brutal. Dry wheaty water with a weak plasticy lime, corn, bleck. This is hard to drink. Mouth feel is weak, dry and unwelcoming. Glad I split this free bottle and then drank free premium Scotch on his tab later on in the night.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DuffMan (5190) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 4, 2009
I’m going against the grain here, but I think Big Rock got this one right. It seems that "lime lagers" are this year’s big fad, much like low carb beers were last year (or perhaps 2 years ago). Nearly every one I’ve tasted has been shit, with a saccharine soda-pop sweetness that is more cooler than beer. This beer is not sweet, nor does it come across as artificial. The pale malts are clean, and the aroma and flavour is more like lime zest (rind), and it does not knock your teeth out. The finish is very dry, keeping the palate fresh. This is by far the best take on a lime lager I’ve yet tried.
2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 2, 2009
Why does such a terrific brewery degrade itself by making "keeping up with the joneses" swill like this? I just don’t get it. This is typical terrible lime, just with a little bit of Big Rock touch in the great mouth feel and an actual average nose.

Pretty horrible, but better than Bud Light Lime. Tastes chemically and fake. Light beer taste is gross. Overall, would not get again.
