Full-bodied ale has a rich copper colour and a spicy-bouquet. A must try for the wine enthusiast.

Bottle 5%. The pour is copper coloured, weak bubbly foam appears. The aroma is of rye, quite grainy, hint of malty sweetness. Overpowering breadiness, creamy mouthfeel, very dry and grainy into the finish. Interesting, but no lasting excitement.

Clean red color with almost zero head and no carbonation. Cheap nose, lots of corny aroma, slightly sweet and if rye is present its hard to find. Flavor starts off with a sweet corny presence at the start and a very light watery rye shows up in the middle with a metallic finish. Body is light, flat and boring. Overall a huge miss in my opinion. A very bad rye ale in this raters opinion. The rating, albeit low, is still a bit generous.

Deep clear gold, vanishing white head. Malty caramel nose, tastes of caramel malts, spice and some fruit... an I & G wannabe?

Not the same beer that I remember trying about 10 years ago. Poured from a 341mL bottle a pale golden color with small white head and spots of lacing. Aroma of grains and some grassy hops. Taste is lightly sweet malt with a light dry grassy hop finish. Decent carbonation and body give a nice mouthfeel.

Bottle, sampled at Viti, pours light golden orange. Aroma and flavour of rye malts, light citrus hops and a subtle fruitiness. Very weak, watery beer. Not impressive.

Not a bad brew. Nice to see this one back after a long time away. The pour is a bright coppery gold with tons of carbonation and no head at all. The aroma is slightly spicy with a light hop and mild rye bread malt. The taste is sweet and grainy with a light grassy hop on the finish. Overall, the rye is moderate in the aroma as well of the taste. A nice session brew though.

341ml brown bottle. Pours dark gold-light orange. Head is white and fades quickly. Nose has a bit of bread/dough, just a bit of sweetness and some detectable rye grains. Flavor is also doughy and bready with some up front grain sweetness. Some light fruitiness. Finishes with a bit of a rye kick, light spice, lingering grains and light bitterness and decent dryness. Average body and carbonation. Overall a nice rye pale ale, one of the few beers Big Rock makes that I would buy again.

Beautiful light orange color, beer was a bit too cold so there was little carbonation and aroma. Taste seems a bit bitter for an ale, but not too bad. Ok beer.

Colour: Light orange and peach, with a slightly low but bubbly head. Nose: Crutons, soft leather, summer spruce leaves & bark, the slightest hint of peach (must be why the colour looks that way!) Taste: Medium sweet, light sour, light bitter. semi-sweet chocolate chips, caramalized roasted malt, rich and thunderous rye grain, pancake batter. Finish is lingering grain. Quite enjoyable.

Magpie pours a golden orange with a one finger creamy white head. The aroma smells of barley and their is a crispness to it from the rye that is nearly undetectable. You can smell some hops as well – I believe Saaz. It has an all around spicy smell to it. The taste is moderately sweet but I can’t tell what is causing it. Otherwise there is the usual flavors present. The hops assert themselves nicely in the finish along with a bit of sharp graininess. Overall – this is a decent brew and I enjoyed my pint. I’d go back to it again for something different and enjoyable. I wouldn’t likely drink it all evening.
