2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cirrhosis (931) - Edmonton, - JAN 21, 2010
What below average brew has Big Rock offered me this time ah I see it’s a winter spice I like those maybe they’ll do good?!? Maybe?!?! Maybe??? One can only hope! Clear copper body with a thin pathetic looking bubble ring around the outside edge, the look of the beer made me feel sad almost like the day a realized that my mom was screwing my dad in a Santa costume and it wasn’t Santa himself she was getting busy with. Loads of sour ginger bread in the nose with cinnamon raisin oatmeal, actually not that bad just wish the sour wasn’t there. Brew has a good thick feel to it with a nice soft taste. Very bready with mild amounts of spice the spice was much stronger in the aroma. Cream cheese, nutmeg, some coffee, bla, bla, bla, bla, I’m no bored with this beer I just lost complete interest in it. actually wasn’t that bad but it could have been so much better, might drink it again if I can find it on tap.

341mL bottle poured hazy amber color with small white head and some spots of lacing. Aromas of grain and spices. Taste is malty sweet with some cinnamon and cardamon, with some hops and more spices blended in the finish. This is quite a nice seasonal ale.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 gramity (601) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 23, 2011
***Old Rating*** One finger bubbly off white head which soon diminished to a ring. No lacing to speak of. A clear dark amber.
Spicy mild sweet smells. Spice up front in the taste, over a mils malt base. Finishes again with the spice. Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.
Medium body. Fairly low carbonation. Sweetish. Overall fairly pleasant.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Strangebrewer (522) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 17, 2011
bottle. Poured clear red-amber with an initial large off-white head but recedes. The aroma is sweet, brown sugar and allspice. Lighter mouthfeel than expected. Flavour of gingerbread cookie, bready caramel malt. Quick finish.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Lubiere (6987) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 1, 2011
A red copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel overlayed with cinnamon hearts. In mouth, a smooth nutty malt, torrefied, with sweetish cinnamon, cloying in the end. Bottle via probstk, thank Karl.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 24, 2010
341 ml bottle from TBS, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear copper with a so-so light tan head.
Aroma: Strong banana bread, spiced loaf, ginger, some other warm spice scents, so much banana bread, clove, cinnamon and allspice as it warms, with a quite sharp, green, peppery note, caramel/brown sugar, meh, not awful but not great either.
Palate: Medium+ body, sparse but sharp effervescence, syrupy/slick.
Flav.: More of the spices than the nose, warm spices as noted above, that sharp, slightly unpleasant peppery note included, still banana bread, but more spice loaf/ginger snap, some caramel/brown sugar notes too; dry with minimal bitterness and a spice cake finish.
Never a fan of spiced beers. This one doesn’t make me a convert.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 pootzboy (1309) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - APR 5, 2010
On tap: taps a gold-amber smallish cap light lacing. Aroma dominated by cinnimon, caramel graininess light grassiness. Light cara-malts in front standard golding bite light spice no off tastes. Thin, bland for the style and forgettable. Jim McNally should retire if these bland offerings are all he can muster.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Powertrip (841) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 25, 2010
Disapointing. I expected a wonderful world of colour, tastebud explosion and spice. This one only goes halfway.....very unlike Big Rock products. Nose was the first clue that something might be wrong....void of stated cinnamon and nutmeg and only the faintest clue of ginger. Malt abundant however. Taste started off dull and body-less. Nothing but mild malt for half the bottle. It wasn’t till the 2nd half of the bottle that the added spices finally started to show their face. To little to late I guess, but still nice to see them. Finish has cinnamon.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Spab (1194) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 11, 2010
On tap at Feathers in Toronto. Pours a clear amber wtih moderate off-white head. Cinnamon very apparent in the nose with some other spices in the background. Flavour is similarly dominated by cinnamon to my taste, with some bready malts and other spices. Light-medium body. Ok.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sammy (6113) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 10, 2010
Enjoyed on-tap at Chauncey Smith. A faint spice aroma. Dark colour. A bit light mouthfeel. Some spice and fruit taste. Nominally rich, vinous.
