Each sip of this multifarious brew will splash a truly mighty mosaic of labyrinthine flavours across your tongue. The tips of Colarado and Engelmann spruce trees, plucked at their most citrusy and flavourful early-spring peak, make for a deliciously satisfying beer.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Aroma : Sweet and spicey aroma. Some subtle creaminess. There is also some caramel notes. Taste: Sweet malt flavors that are accompanied by the floral spruce tastes. Very earthy finish. Pretty interesting mix of flavorsAppearance : clear medium / dark amber body. Thin head but it retains ok.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2014 Bottle from the Lumberjack Pack. Amber, white head. Nose is caramel, earthy/herbal hops, dash of conifer livens it up a bit. Flavour is toffee with slight hop spice and conifer. Like the other two in the pack this was a muddy caramel beer, but the spruce gave it a nice touch so this is my fave.

A thesaurus of a beer. Thin head on red amber. Vanilla aroma is disappointing as I expected huge spruce. Winter warmer. Light spruce on big caramel malt.

341 ml bottle from the Lumberjack Pack. Clear medium copper, fading foamy tan head. Mild floral evergreen malt aroma. Citrusy honey sweet caramel malt taste, some faint evergreen, herbs and spice. Soft carbonation, lighter bodied, lightly hopped. Slick and oily. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Bottle. Clear orange amber, golden head. Aroma is earthy caramel with just a little floral spruce mixed in. The palate has flavours of earthy caramel with a pungent herbal flavour that is more like thyme than conifer to me. Quite savoury actually, which is a little odd. Mixed feelings on this one, but I like the experimentation!

Sample courtesy of Jodaye from Big Rock, from the Lumberjack Pack. Pours a light golden with a white head, mild retention. Aroma is christmas tree, almost air freshener like. Medium carbonation, good mouthfeel, low-medium alcohol warmth. Palate is light minty, citrusy notes from the spruce needles with a well balanced hoppy bitterness to round out this lighter brew. This taster pack has started out delightfully - kudos to BR for a return to "craft" roots.

341ml brown bottle. Clear amber, thin white cap. Plain caramel aroma. Taste has caramel, bit of weak citrus, very fleeting note of that spruce, faint earth note. The finish is rather plain, trace of spruce. Not much going on here.

341ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a small white head that leaves no lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel and perhaps some spruce. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with a bit of citrus and spruce with a bit of a grassy bitterness. Not quite as good as I was expecting.

341 ml bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada via CoOp.Pours a mahogany-caramel colour, zero head, noticeable carbonation. Caramel aroma, faint citrus with a roasted malt background. Sweet, more cola-like than I anticipated. A very slight mint-like flavour from the spruce, though not as interesting as I had hoped for.
