paco (204), Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada Aug 19, 2004 Updated: Aug 20, 2004smell is very unpleasent. appearance is very nice. average flavor. pleasent palate. overall a decent beer, worth a buy just to try somewthing new. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 16, 2004 Updated: Aug 19, 2004Grew up with this brew only to realize later on that there is far too much yeasty aftertaste. Pleasant colour gets it a few extra points. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2004 On draft in Vancouver while the rest of the town watched fireworks. Another example of a disappointing Canadian microbrew. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2004 decent malt then bit of hopbitterness and aftertaste. Medium texture and watery. Rather bland. Not much hops. Canadian relying on balance. Water and sugar. Slight fizz and yeast mid-sip. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada May 11, 2004 Pours red with a white pillowy head. Nutty caramel malty nose. Lots of malt flavours. Cookies and burnt notes. Some mild hoppy bitters. Somewhat unbalanced but it tasted good. Worth a try. pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada May 8, 2004 Had this on tap in many Calgary and Edmonton pubs...flows like water here as BR has sewed up the draft market locally. Tapped a crystal clear darker amber, slight white cap that doesn’t last long. Slight hints of citrusy hop and grassy boiled grains in the aroma. Starts light and rather weak for an ale but then the fuller body kicks in with the well balanced hop and malt departure the finish is clean with a lingering "bread" after taste. As commercial Canuck ales go this is probably the best of the lot but still lacking. It’s another attempt to "Canadianize" a traditional ale style for the mass market....it is always a compromise....but as the compromises go this one has retained a modicum of ale character to make it king of the commercial ales. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 7, 2004 Decent session type ale attempt. Dark amber colour, but little of the expected bitterness to with it. Not bad, but you just expect a little more. radiomgb (1923), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Apr 7, 2004 Caramel in colour. Aroma was of mild hops and malts, some caramel sweetness. Flavour was slightly sweet, malty, smooth and creamy. Finishes with a very mild bitterness. Refreshing.
