[823B-20071105] Tap @ Amsterdam Rhino (Calgary, AB). Aroma has a bit of grainy malt. Clear, dark amber red body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sugary yeast flavour with a bit of hay in the background. Medium body. Nice, a little sweet. (6/3/7/4/13) 3.2 JoeZasada (133), Beaumont, Alberta, Canada Jul 23, 2007 Nice amber colour; moderate hops, moderate maltiness, white head. One of the best mass-produced beers around. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 10, 2007 Strong caramel sweetness in the nose along with some fruity esters. Clear amber-brown body is topped by a low off white head that lasts well. Flavour is quite sweet with caramel malts leading to a light bitterness and fruity aftertaste. Medium light body with decent carbonation but somewhat watery texture. Sampled on tap in the Maple Leaf Lounge at Edmonton Airport. cyrenaica (435), Milton, Ontario, Canada Jul 7, 2007 This was the free beer provided by a participant at the 2006 hockey pool. Decent aroma, but nothing to write home about. Slightly malty. The colour was an almost reddish colour. It felt ’perky’ on the tongue, but the favour didn’t thrill me. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 30, 2007 Pours a medium amber-brown with a short-lived soap-sud head and a light aroma of sweet malt & hops. Tastes pleasantly hoppy, but with a sweet crystal malt backbone that overpowers the hops easily. Decently chewy body, very drinkable and better than most draught swill. Dezzilu (211), Whitmore Lake, Michigan, USA Jun 20, 2007 Mild brown in color with an aroma of mild caramel and some type of spice which I couldn’t put my finger on. The flavor was nice, but disappointingly thin with an amber. On the palate this didn’t improve and left me with a hallow feeling about this beer. The best thing I could say is that is a poor-man’s Newcastle brown. Miguel (1181), Saint-Ours, Quebec, Canada Jun 18, 2007 Robe rousse aux reflets blonds très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche mince. Arômes de malt. Saveurs de malt et de caramel.
