tap at Big Rock in Seoul - Pours amber with a mild caramel malt aroma. It tastes light, sweet, and creamy. It’s a little water. This beer is smooth and easy drinking with some flavor that at least puts it well above your typical macro suds.

I can’t believe i haven’t rated this before! i used to drink on a semi regular basis. Its a pretty middle of the road, maybe even sub par brown ale. Wattery, and thin like most fo the Big Rock beers, some slight malt notes, and a touch of roast, but meh, pretty boring.

Pours a clear dull amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma is extremely unpleasant - wood glue and dead underbrush. Tastes like a cheap amber ale, slight sudsy character, definite nutty taste too - that, at least, is redeeming. Peanut-butter aftertaste (some diacetyl here). Carbonation is good but the body is very thin. Drinkable, but it doesn’t deliver the chocolate & toasted character I expect from a brown ale.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 cyrenaica (745) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 7, 2008
341ml bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on January 31, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto. The beer poured a reddish-brown colour with a thin whitish head. The aroma was stale malt with a little bit of hops. The mouthfeel was medium-thin with high carbonation. The taste was grainy with no detectabe hops or malt.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mabel (4129) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 2, 2008
[810-20071104] Bottle. Light fruit aroma hints at apple and strawberry. Clear, amber orange body with a quick foamy white head. Alcohol grain flavour has a bit of yeast and fruit background. Medium body. Average.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 dkazuk (248) - winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 21, 2007
355ml can.
Pours a light hazelnut colour with thick looking off white head. Smells of caramel malts and a small bit of hops. Flavour is a little citrusy and juicy with a slight bitter finish. I’ve been noticing with a few of Big Rock’s beers that the aroma and flavour don’t seem to compliment each other and thats a bit off-putting for me. Smooth and semi-watery mouth feel. Small bitter finish. No huge aftertaste.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Gpnterojd (172) - Orangeville, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 6, 2007
Bottle. Pours clear amber with little head. Very faint hops in the aroma. The aroma gains inklings of smoke and roasted malts as it warms. The taste is very much diluted: a few hops save the beer from being mistaken for water. Alcohol is noticeable even though the beer is a mere 4.5%. After taking a few sips and letting the beer saturate my tongue, the ridiculous blandness begins to transform into... something. Some malts begin to show with warmth. Still, bland yet oddly unbalanced. Light bodied to the point of being excessively watery. Shattered my expectations.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 furballman (25) - Seoul, SOUTH KOREA - OCT 4, 2007
Nice brown color, incredably smooth. I was quite impressed because this is a beer that I could drink alot of if I was thirsty and it doesn’t lose much. Good carbonation, nice taste, but the head was very thin, that’s the 4 for appearance.
