Small creamy head atop a nice copper colored brew. Smells of fruit, hard candy. Slight hoppy bit to it around the tongue. Bit of malty sweetness, caramel flavors, perhaps. This is a beer that has absolutely no flavor when it’s too cold. Definately have to let this one warm up a bit.

bottle, cellar temperature. lighter, copper-colored version of traditional is fairly accurate. The quality is fairly similar to their ’traditional’ except with a litle less of an edge. Still, surprisingly underrated on here, especially considering some of the horrid stuff with similar scores.
Although it is marked here as a ’brown ale’, the bottle itself has a sort of dial with different styles on it, and the highlighted one is ’Ale’, not ’English Brown’. The commercial description merely states that it has a nutty finish similar to an English Brown, it doesn’t suggest that it is one. An English Brown is considerably maltier and thicker.
In its own right quite good though, certainly the taste is very good and it makes for a fine session beer (not as good as Traditional though), but the palate and aroma are far from top-notch.

Wisps of a creamy head over a deep amber body. Caramel sweetness and bready aroma. Light and crisp taste with some caramel coming through. Medium amount of carbonation and a slightly bitter finish.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2005 I found this beer to have a bold taste. Very similar to Big Rock Tradition ale.

Smells like an amber Ale, relatively smooth, tastes like a wellington amber ale

Nice brown color, incredably smooth. I was quite impressed because this is a beer that I could drink alot of if I was thirsty and it doesn’t lose much. Good carbonation, nice taste, but the head was very thin, that’s the 4 for appearance.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 toad99 (15) - USA - SEP 23, 2001
Nasty smell and taste to go with it. Pretty weak, so it goes down easy.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 jimlintott (13) - CANADA - MAR 9, 2005
Milder flavour than the colour suggests, yet too strong to be very easy drinking. Very light in body. All in all a bit dull.

Nice beer. Good flavour but not overpowering. Perfect with nachos watching the hockey game.
