COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
They say most of your taste comes from your nose. Hopapalooza IPA, has a unique combination of aromatic hops that fill your senses with citrus, grapefruit, and pine, and enough bittering hops to get your mouth watering. A clean finish leaves you ready for the next sip. Malt: 2-Row, Maris Otter, Vienna, Crystal Hops: Columbus, Cascade, Glacier, Mt. Hood

Debut tapping at the Beer Bistro. Orangey and slightly cloudy, poured in a shaker glass. Has a short, whitish head. The nose has some decent Pacific Northwest hops to it. And I also get some of the malt. Very sharp and bitter hop taste to it. Malts are a little bit light. Rich, the founder says he wanted it to be a hop-forward since he thinks that’s what Chicago beer geeks like. Possibly since this is a fresh batch, it’s just naturally more hoppy. Another big-on-hops IPA.

Clear golden pour with a n offwhite head. The aroma has citrus and pine hops. It has a medium body with average carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a quick finish.

This was nearly a gusher for me so, you know, if it’s close to August 2015 and you get a bottle of this, open it over the sink. It pours very cloudy orange w/ a huge rocky head that fills the hole glass and necessitates some patience to get the full bottle in the glass. It smells nice. It’s mildly piney w/ some softer citrus tones and a bit of pineapple It’s dry and bitter and seems like it’s full bodied aside from being way over-carbonated. I am not sure if this picked up a bit of an infection or what but I have to assume something is off here. Still, I have to give it a lot of credit for still being a decent beer despite this.

Bottle in Chicago-- Pours hazy pale amber with thin white head. Nose is grassy hop and honey. Aromas are skunk, citrus, pine and honey. Oily texture, average carbonation. Nice bitterness. Long bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Horrible ipa. Should be classified as a Belgium Ipa. Has that banana fruity flavor with an unbalanced malt backbone. Finishes fruity and sweet. Pours a nice cloudy orange color. Had at home out of a bottle ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home watching playoff basketball on the last Sunday of April. Appearance is a cloudy golden brown with a thin white head. Aroma is malt and spice, rye, doesn’t smell like an IPA. Taste is strange, lots of off flavors going on and this doesn’t taste much like an IPA. Not a fan.

Rather disappointing. I think this is Big Shoulders’ flagship brew. It smells good, and looks okay - but that’s where it ends. The flavor is just okay, and the mouthfeel is poor - really watery. I’ll avoid this one going forward.

On tap at Pour Phil’s Shell Bar in Oak Park, IL. for this year’s Tale of Two Parks Pub Crawl. Dispensed to a shaker showing a hazed, golden hue, a frothy, soft white head with fair persistence, and good cling to the spots & strands of lacing. The aroma was a subtle nose of fruit sweetness, some citrus as grapefruit & orange, and a hint of resin. Light to medium bodied, with average carbonation, the taste contributed moderate, rindy, hop bitterness with some lingering quality, and fair malt to smooth a bit. Drinkable, but not that expressive to wow.
