3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (230 of 350)… Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head that never fully dissipates. The aroma presents caramel, light chocolate and dark fruits – raisin and date. Medium to full-bodied with prickly carbonation. The flavor is mainly of fig, praline and alcohol. Finishes crisp, mildly bitter, and then dry. Bottle courtesy of giarcsr!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark brown with large bubbled white head.
Nose seems somewhat off to me. It has dark fruits, maybe a suggestion of vegetables or mushroom. I can’t decide if this "funkiness" is supposed to be there or if I received a bad bottle.
The taste is fine, which leads me to think it is supposed to be this way. Sweet and sour with some fruit and a velvetty smooth texture. Carbonation rolls well at the end on the finish, and again a very smooth quality impresses well.
Only detracting feature is the somewhat funky nose.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle labeled #695 of 1800. Pours a slightly hazed deep translucent amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first third of glass and left light lace. Pleasant malty aroma with a bit of raisin and plum in the nose as well. The flavor is quite malty and reminds me more of a doppelbock than a quad. There is some raisin and plum in the flavor as well along with a bit of spice. Boozey finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
(bottle 968/1800 ’08 vintage) Thought I’d be celebrating a Griz national championship with this one, but guess it’ll have to be a comizeration instead. :-( Crazy insane head. Very tight bubbles which are collapsing fairly quickly. Wonderful aroma. Toasty, caramel and bready. Sort of like fresh liquid malt for those that homebrew! Nice red colored body. Tiny fermentation bubbles coming up in the glass. Strong flavors of raisins and figs. Hops are very mute, but become more pronounced, lingering on the tongue in the aftertaste. Slight warming after drinking. Only slight. Little alcohol on the palate. Body little heavier than normal beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: pours a mix of crimson and and smokey quartz, the head is glacier like..super thick, glassy, icey, mountainous...lacy...sexxxy. smells of caramel, chocolate cake, raisins, toffee, and butter. Very inviting and sweet & dessertish nose. Musty and somewhat metallic intro to flavors...notes of nuts, toffee, and intricate weavings of complex caramel. The mouthfeel is somewhat cluttered and flat feeling notwithstanding the adequate carbonation. Bitterness seems very present for the style, which maybe contributing to the mouthfeel situation. Flavors are nice though, they really got some good stuff out of those malts.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a translucent reddish orange with a healthy head that sits on top of the beer like a crown. Smells like buttered popcorn, butterscotch, and buttered rum...butter. Taste is smooth like butter on hot toast, kind of floral, and warming. I’m not really in the mood to describe the abundance of flavors and feelings I’m currently experiencing.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
7550mL bottle, no date (975 of 1800) from Ledger’s. Clear copper orange with a 1 1/2 finger beige head, pretty good retention. Aroma of figs, some raisins, brown sugar up front with molasses and some spicy Belgian yeast behind. The flavor adds some chocolate notes and faint dry roast. Sweet caramel tends to dominate, though there’s a lot going on. The finish is actually semi-dry (thank you Big Sky for not making a cloyingly sweet Belgian Strong!) with bitterness peaking around a 3, with the alcohol seemingly stronger than the stated 8.75%. Full body with moderate carbonation. Very pleasantly surprised with this one.
