Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours very black with a creamy, 3 finger, dark tan head. Very nice chocolate nose. Medium plus body with foamy carbonation. It’s chocolate, very, with some coffee that comes out. Nicely bitter finish. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle sampled on 7/26/09: Pours a mostly opaque black with dark mahogany edges and some light brown wispy head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel malts and some dark chocolate with a hint of raisins. Body starts with good fullness and toasty caramel maltiness with some earthy roasty dark chocolate notes before a drier bittersweet finish. A pretty nice porter.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ughsmash (5823) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 25, 2009
Bottled. Poured much darker than expected.. about a shade shy of black, with a deep tan head. The aroma picked up well-roasted chocolate, coffee, and molasses with a lovely dose of floral and piney hoppage.. very well balanced and enjoyable. The flavor was led by molasses and coffee maltage, well-roasted, with accents of vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate.. bitterness surrounded in the form of more coffee, pine, and earth.. long, memorable finish, with excellent balance between the components. Medium-plus bodied and well-roasted on the palate.. a little too dry and grainy at times, but that only detracted a little.. great use of hops.. I’d gladly drink this again and again.

Bottle. Pours a dark bruin body with a tan off white head. Matly body with lighter chocolate malt tones, light milkly tones, and light vanilla like sweetness. An earthy hop character, bitter roasted coffee like malt tones. Mild bitterness, soft carbonation, and a medium body. Pretty good big sky is 2 for 2 .

Bottle: Pours a dark black color with a tan head. The nose is chewy with roast and molasses, light vanilla and cocoa notes and a lingering hop towards the end. The flavor is huge and balanced, very tasty licorice and chewy chocolate notes. Nice plum and roasty vanilla finish and just a touch of hops to balance. Nice.

12-oz bottle from Binny’s in Orland Park, IL: It poured an opaque, nearly black body with a thick brown head but left little lace. The aroma is a blending of coffee, milk chocolate, and dark caramel... which pretty much describes the flavor. I’m not sure what makes this a robust porter, but it is a tastily drinkable brew.
