3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle purchased at Berkeley Bowl. It pours a nice clear golden color with a fluffy white head. The aroma jumps out as fresh multigrain bread with some orange and spices. Really digging this grainy/malty aroma. The flavor is similar with lots of wheat and rye with a good subdued spicy, peppery finish. I would’ve liked it a tad drier with a lighter crisper body, but this is a pretty decent drinkable Saison not being heavy or sweet. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Faint caramalized sugar, belgian yeast and coriander aroma.Yellowish gold with a fine foam rim. Immensly crisp and hoppy flavor upfront with a full bodied malt giving off dough, caramel, herbs and maple syrup. Finish is a strongly carbonated continuous hop flavor. Overall, this is actually really good. Pleasantly light yet, full flavored. I’d give this an A- rating.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle from a six pack bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Pours hazy golden with a collapsing white head. Aroma is pretty bland for a saison. I smell grain, faint banana, faint pepper, faint lemon; almost as boring-smelling as an American golden/blonde ale. Taste is pretty hoppy bitter for your average saison...who are we kidding here? This doesn’t taste anything like any saison I’ve ever had. It tastes more like an American pale ale with faint--and when I say faint, I mean extremely faint--Belgian characteristics. Finishes with a light tang. Mouthfeel is foamy, texture watery, body medium to thin. Average pale ale; substandard saison.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy gold with a 3 finger foamy white head that did some ring lacing. Aroma might have a hint of earthiness - I think there’s banana ester. Med body. Flavor is a little earthy, and there’s some light spice and fruit ester - still thinking banana. Finishes mixed earthy and "Belgian". Definitely towards bitter. Pretty good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a clear golden color with a large white head. The aroma is full of wheat and yeast with some grain notes thrown in. I also get a little bit of white pepper and some light citrus. The flavor is very similar. The grain and yeast notes come through first, with some orange and apple character coming through later. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 This brew has so many great elements to it; however, it really fails on the finishes and makes it all seem so trite. Pours a slightly murky golden straw color. Aroma is yeast, some banana notes, and floral. Taste is sweet, banana, yeast, dough, and faintly citrus. The finishes is abruptly bitter and unpleasant. What happened here? It’s so good up until the end. What a disappointing imbalance. Sigh.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a medium yellow with a touch of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Medium head and a lacking palate- lacks the spiciness that I think the style should have, but I will probably buy again as it is not all that bad.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
$7.20 for a 6’er of this at WinCo of all places... Great deal! Pours into my HotD goblet with a 2 finger white head.. nice retention, but only splotchy lacing... the brew is hazed straw golden.
The aromas are only okay in the traditional saison realm.. grainy/wheat malt presence.. I guess some minor peppery phenols, but no real fruity esters.. seems too malt dominant for a "saison". Could use any sort of Belgian esters.
Very grainy on the palate.. not as dry on the palate as expected for the style.. light yeasty peppery quality.. perhaps some minor clove and even some bandaid. Wheat malt lays down a minor (very minor) tartness, but there is no yeasty sour notes to speak of.
Body is thick for a saison.. the residual malts left on the palate accentuate this... and the carbonation isn’t really that good either.
Despite all my above negatives, I see what the good folks at Big Sky were trying to accomplish and I would suggest a very different yeast.
But for what this is, it is very, very refreshing and unlike anything the other breweries have in the cooler right now.... I will certainly buy it again... This should have been released in late spring.. Late night fire-pit parties, afternoon yard-work, and camping/fishing/hot-springing with an interesting/individual brew.
Decent... I see the bones; but this should have been more adventurous and it would have been great (especially in a 6-pack).

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at winter brew fest. Cloudy golden pour with a fizzy white top. Scent is fruity and yeasty. Taste is same and crisp.
