2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Brush Tail left me underwhelmed. It’s a sad thing, too. I like this brewery and I love farmhouse ales. I tend to be fairly open-minded when it comes to this category because these beers are so diverse. While Brush Tail offers some flavor of yeast and smoke, there’s just not enough. A farmhouse ale has to have big, mature flavors, and Brush Tail simply doesn’t offer that. Still, for a 12 ounce version, it isn’t awful.

From bottle. Murky gold pour with some decent white head and lacing. Nose is sweet with some spice. Taste is in line with the nose. Clean finish. Not bad, but a bit too sweet and a little thin.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 This brew has so many great elements to it; however, it really fails on the finishes and makes it all seem so trite. Pours a slightly murky golden straw color. Aroma is yeast, some banana notes, and floral. Taste is sweet, banana, yeast, dough, and faintly citrus. The finishes is abruptly bitter and unpleasant. What happened here? It’s so good up until the end. What a disappointing imbalance. Sigh.

Pours hazy gold, lots of head. Nose of citrus, lemon, flowers. Very full bodied, a tad bitter, bread, yeast, some mild citrus notes, floral on the end. A wonderful beer!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy, dirty blonde pour into thick, lingering fluffy white head that slowly dissipates into sticky lacing. Clingy wafts of bubbly foam eventually melting down the glass into a pool of pillowy suds. Aroma of spruce, doughy wheat bread and yeasty malt. Initial flavor of yeasty biscuit and toasted malt that slowly fades into a banana-citrus finish.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: 2" fluffy white head recedes slowly with moderate lacing. Significant carbonation present. Deep golden color and somewhat cloudy, but less than is common with saisons.
Aroma: clove, banana, warm bread dough, earthy hops.
Mouthfeel: mostly light, fairly crisp, somewhat dry finish.
Flavor: Hops are more forward than expected and mask the sweeter malt flavors (clove, banana, caramel) somewhat.
Overall: very fine, but not great.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden-yellow only slightly cloudy with lots of lacing and a thin white head. Aroma is yeasty with grass. Flavor is hard to pin down, but similar to aroma; lightly sweet and spicy with minor bitter finish. Palate is light, watery, and fizzy.
