Bottle. Dark brown pour, beige head. nice roasty coffee aroma and flavour, mild vegetal undertones, nuances of chocolate, marred slightly by a thinnish mouthfeel.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - FEB 28, 2011
[Tap] Pours an opaque black color with a thin light brown head. Heavy aroma of roasted coffee grounds, charred grains and lighter amounts of cocoa. The taste is of espresso beans, dark chocolate, a touch of smoke, roasted nuts and light hopping. Lingering bitter finish that is very similar to that of strong black coffee. Fine carbonation levels. The mouthfeel was quite creamy and full, which made this beer stand out in a very positive way compared to many others in the ’coffee beer’ genre.

Bottle @ home. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a sizable brown head that dissipates fairly quickly. Roasted and burnt chocolate malts and a sizable espresso aroma. Roasted chocolatey espresso flavor with dark malts. Roaste dark malty finish. Very tasty beer!

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a medium creamy, tan head. Aroma is all chocolate and coffee. Flavor is pretty acidic from the coffee with a chocolate malt backbone. Medium body with average carbonation and a creamy mouth feel. Not my favorite coffee beer but not horrible, just so so.

Pours a deep dark brown. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, peat and roasted nuts. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, peat, roasted grain. This beer has a nice coffee and earthiness to it. Low carbonation. Enjoyable on this snowy day.

Very creamy sweet coffee nose, jet black and a thin tan head, good lacing. Light chocolate initially, body stiffens up into a thicker espresso creaminess. Sticky residue.

Poured an extremely dark (almost black) brown with a light tan head that quickly faded to miinimal lace. Aroma was mainly of coffee with some malt and hop backing. Taste was decent with coffee predominating the front end and malt and moderate hops finishing it off as well as a slight smoking hue. Mouthfeel was decent. Overall, not a bad coffee porter which tasted similar a few coffee stouts I’ve sampled before.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 CanIHave4Beers (2495) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - FEB 23, 2011
Pours a deep black with a big tan head that leaves plenty of lace. The aroma contains a nice fruitiness with a bunch of coffee and creamy vanilla making it smell akin to some sort of a foofy foofy coffee drink (in a good way). The flavor is a tad sweet and kind of one dimensional but really pretty tasty none the less. Plenty of bitter and roasty coffee tones abound in this beer with a lightly ashy finish.

Not impressed. The first taste was ok but fell flat and uninteresting. That burnt coffee flavor comes off and finishes uninteresting. That’s all I can say. It was watery on the finish.

12 oz bottle from Dakine. Thanks. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a medium beige head that has good retention and some lacing. The aroma is strong with roasted grains, dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor is rich with coffee, chocolate, roasted grains and biter walnuts. The palate is full and silky smooth with soft carbonation. The finish is medium in duration and dry with lingering dark chocolate. Overall: A very tasty porter.
