4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 curly (2352) - Seattle (Newcastle), USA - AUG 2, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2010 Part of the Limited Release series. Very fresh, practically as fresh as it can get. I had this in a 4oz sample draft at the brewery and also bought a sixer of it for only 8 dollars!!!! Draft- clear orange amber, frothy beige head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, caramel. Taste is not overly bitter or extremely citrusy. Not as bright and floral, citrusy as the regular IPA when tasted side by side in the tasting room but certainly has more bitterness on the finish. This beer has more resin, herb and pine in general without being off-putting.
Bottle----- Same color and head with nice retention. Aroma is the same, noticeable pine, some citrus and caramel. Taste is incredible, very smooth resinous, herby, citrus bitterness with an excellent caramel balance and some cherry notes. The texture is nice with lots of juicy malt and soft carbonation. The finish is quite long with herb and pine bitterness. They really should make this all the time and put it in 750’s like some of their other beers. If only they didn’t charge 15 dollars for those others. ....Went back for more... didn’t have any on draft but still had sixers and I bought two. Holy crap this beer is great. Seriously I would put it up against any other resin-heavy DIPA. I could drink this every day. Please make more!!!!!!!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 16, 2011
Sample at Flying Saucer in KC. Pours a clear orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes to a film quickly. Spotty lacing. Citrusy hops and caramel malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of grapefruity hops, ripe fruit and sweet malt. The finish is moderately hoppy initially and leaves a malty aftertaste. Straightforward IIPA overall.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Aubrey (3192) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - MAY 19, 2011
April Brews Day draft: Decent dbl ipa but it didn’t blow me away. Malts had elements of burnt caramel, roast and toasted bread. Hops had some sweet grass and flower petals. Alcohol warmed the throat. Hop aromas were pleasant but kind of subdued. Not bad at all, just not overly exciting. I prefer the Big Sky IPA.

Tasted 11/12/10. Draft pint from the Stables. Pours filtered with a golden amber hue. Lacing off-white head. Aromas of orange zest and grapefruit with a touch of toasty caramel malts. Full bodied and all hops! Nice, bitter grapefruit and tart citrus flavors. The scales are completely swayed to the hops, making it somewhat one dimensional. Still, very drinkable!
