This is a nice garnet brown brew w/ a fine and long-lasting head. Nose is pretty subdued but the sweetness and maltiness of this beer express themselves much more once tasted. The flavor is straightforward and nutty w/ just a hint of fruitiness but the texture is full bodied and creamy, which works quite well. This is one of those beers that doesn’t smell or taste like anything that special but is really good in other areas, which makes up for it.

Dark amber pour with medium sized tan head. Aroma of caramel and ripe fruit. Taste is malt, caramel, ripe fruit, bread and slightly earthy. Nice and crisp mouthfeel, with just the right balance of sweetness. Everything came together perfect for this beer. Good beer.

Bottle. Rich amber pour with a nice light tan head. Nose is earthy caramel. Palate is moderate - maybe a touch on the thinner side. Taste is slightly smokey, caramel, earth, and a touch of grassy hops.

Not a kilt lifter, not a froasch, but very very acceptable replacement. Tastes fantastic out of the bottle, and very pleasing in a glass. Try it, youll like it!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark amber with a small layer of almond head. Very sweet aroma with strong fig esters. Taste perpetuates the strong and sweet figgy esters. The flavor lingers on the palate leaving a nice sweet pruny and figgy fruit sweetness. Very nice scotch without the smoky peat flavor .

Another entry into the AW BHoF! Big Sky nailed it with this brew; simply nailed it! It pours up a deep mahogany body with a nice 1-finger head that hangs around for quite a while. Scents of rich malts and dark fruits like cherries and plums precede the flavors of sweet malts, caramel and dark fruits. Put the sense of smell and taste into overdrive by breathing in through your nose just as you are drinking some of this fine brew!! Oh yeah! There’s just enough hit of hops to make this one amazingly fine brew! This is a easy session brew so keep track of how many you enjoy!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Serving glass: Poured from bottle into tall glass.
Appearance: Clear mahogany with an almost yellow head.
Aroma: Caramel, toffee, and cherry are fairly strong. Some floral, spicy and metallic English hops. Smells more like a English Strong Ale than a Scotch Ale.
Taste: Fairly sweet with loads of caramel and dark fruits such as cherry, figs and raisins. Not as much hops as noted in the smell, just a light spicy and metallic finish. Straddles the line of cloying, but somehow the flavor profile works for me.
Palate: Moderate carbonation, medium body, odd finish. Since I did not knock the Taste score for almost being cloying, I while knock the Feel score for the residual sweetness.
Overall: Pretty good Scotch Ale. A little sweet and the finish and aroma is a little odd, but for some reason I simply like the taste. Isn’t that good enough?
