3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 gringo332 (385) - Richardson, Texas, USA - SEP 19, 2011
A well blended balance of hops and malt. Somehow this is different then most other IPA’s. I believe it is the use of the malt. No bitterness in the finish at all and malt does well to balances the hops. I really like the extra malt in this beer.
4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 rockchalk2 (19) - Kansas, USA - SEP 17, 2011
Tasty go-to ipa. Nothing challenging or memorable, but does everything you want an ipa to do. Great balance between hops and malts, it tastes like a hoppy bag of cracker jacks.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ChoppingMall (47) - Sleepy Hollow, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 14, 2011
Pours gorgeously, a nice fluffy head that settles down to a smooth texture with some lacy effect on the edge of the glass. Big, enticing aroma from this IPA... Grapefruit and some pine, like a fresh breeze in the great northern forest. Big citrus up front on this beer and it’s a good thing, it slides into a grapefruit tang and a really bitter pine aftertaste. Fresh & exiting, I like this one a lot, and it’s become one of my "go-to" IPA’s. Big Sky makes solid stuff. That’s a Pronghorn on the label and it looks like it’s ready to impale your pitiful human form.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hawthorne00 (1306) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 11, 2011
Bottle. Bright copper with an off-white head. Aroma of marmalade, pine and toffee. Taste has quite firm and toasty caramel but the sweetness is quickly swept away. Dry with a solid bitter finish. Wood, earth and citrus. Rather dead mouthfeel. Good but uninvolving.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 slang (602) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - SEP 10, 2011
Bottled. Copper white headed pale ale. Simcoe w/ minimal citrus. Easy bitterness. Lacks complexity, max throw back.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 crossovert (2543) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 14, 2011
It is a dark colored but piney and bitter IPA. Still needs a bit of tweaking to get it in that next level.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cole (887) - , Alberta, CANADA - AUG 6, 2011
Looks great, pours amber brown with a thin white head. Bold hop aroma with strong grapefruit notes. Flavour is great as well. Very strong and bitter, this is a palate crusher. Clean crisp and bitter, with a very floral aftertaste. this is a fantastic IPA.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 jmagnus87 (520) - Carbondale, Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2011
12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a shaker.
Color is a hazy dark orange. About 1 finger of thick off-white head that stays forever leaving great lacing.
Aroma is grassy and citrus hops with a little sweet malt.
Taste is heavy bitter and lightly sweet.
Medium-heavy bodied with a thick creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long bitter finish.
Overall, its a pretty good beer. Although, you can get a lot better IPAs for about the same price.
