This is a pretty tasty IPA on the fruity and sweet side of the equation. It’s a nice orange color w/ a long lasting white head of medium bubbles. The nose is of mango and pineapple which is one thing that creates the impression of sweetness. The other thing is the fact that it’s actually quite sweet, very big and sticky on the palate, almost heavy. The finish is thick and bitter w/ lots of lingering sweetness. This almost drinks like a IIPA or light barleywine, which is alright but not what I’m really looking for from an IPA.

@ Great Alaskan Barleywine Festival ’06. Ok nose, sweet. Pine & caramel. Clean orangy brown color, small head, ok lacing. Bittersweet, grapefruit & lemon mainly, some caramel. Thin body, watery mouthfeel, bitter slightly chalky finish.

Bottle. Honey orange color, clear, small head. Striking, pungent honey nose. Fusel orange citrus with pine sap scented hop cones, covered by the thinnest layer of oxidation. Medium body, oily and wet, medium to low bitterness for IPA, hops are resinous and oily, flavors center on clover honey and tree sap. Good but not great.

Pour is a orange with a small white head. Aroma is of pine resin and not much else. Flavor is a decent helping of hops but not overwhelming. No real malts to speak of. There is nothing wrong with this beer its just that its a pretty standard IPA.

The aroma was good with a little bit of pine scent. It had a dark amber color with a carmel colored head. It was a really smooth IPA with what seemed to be a little smokey flavor to it. It wasn’t bad, but didn’t have the normal bitter IPA bite that I love.

Hopped. Fairly decent finish. Not the greatest IPA I ever had, but who knew Montana was in the game? I do know.

exact same color as the Ale Asylum Hopalicious I just had only this one is clearer. aroma is strongly of earthy hops, the piney quality is not present as advertised. It is not that strong on the caramel so I don’t believe it is past its prime. I wonder if this beer only uses Simcoe hops. These are deceptively bitter, though, so I’ll give them that. Finishes with a moderate sweetness. Not bad, but not among my favorites.
