750ml from tytoanderso - thanks, Tyler! A really fine pour, thick and dark like sludgy chocolate milk. The cafe au lait head dissipates somewhat quickly, but the nose is pungent and lasting. The bourbon is fairly mild, integrated well with the chocolate and lactic qualities. That holds true for the flavor as well, which is richly satisfying.

Bottle pours pitch black with tan head. Aroma is vanilla, wood, roasty malts, and bourbon. Flavors followed the nose exactly. Smooth roasty malts balanced nicely with vanilla and bourbon. Thick brew. I really liked this one.

Bottle shared with bhensonb. This dark brown ale poured with a nice brown head that lasted a while. There is a strong treacle and licorice aroma. The flavor matches the aroma in that there is a heavy anise presence and a syrupy malt taste. This is a good brew. Thanks Bill.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Liquor Max. Very dark brown color with a strong dark tan head. Aromas of treacle, coffee and very toasted malt. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is very strong treacle/coffee/malt and may have some anise. Yes, it does have anise. Finishes in a heavenly manner. The initial heat touch diminishes. Seems rather alcoholic, or at least more than 8.7. Finish is very satisfying.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very dark with a medium tan head. Mouthfeel is full but not overly chewy. Interesting flavors and aromas from start to finish. Sweetness was pretty bold (perhaps a bit much for my blood). Had some chocolate, syrupy molasses and caramel, but when I thought of coffee-flavored ice cream it really clicked. Aromas of vanilla bean, sweet whiskey, sour wood, and espresso with cream surfaced after each swallow. Warming alcohol soothed the back of the throat. Dark fruit flavors blend into a mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Cozy and complex.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours opaque with a large, creamy, dark brown head, mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted grain, toffee), average hops (perfume), average yeast (leather) with notes of alcohol, dates, wood, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark opaque pour with a wonderful aroma of sweet malt and wet hay. Big blast of malt and yeast with a wonderful mix of dark grains, cherries and vanilla in the finish. Quite extraordinary. What a mouth feel. Full bodied and then some. Sweetness rounded out by an alcohol. Almost too much going on. It’s a sipper. Went back to the store for more, but alas all gone. Sweet for an imperial stout, but still a very enjoyable take on the style. Thanks!
