3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at PPRBSG09. Deep black beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is a bit sweet with a light soft vineous character. Light plummy/chewy character through the middle. A kiss of anise/licorice and some light hot booziness. There is a bit of cocoa and coffee with a lingering sweetness. Rich, fruity and fairly roasty on the back end. I like it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at PPRBSG09. Pours a woody brownish black and a toffe- colored head. Aroma is bourbon, black licorice, anise seed, some tar, nutty dark chocolate, and earthy phenols. Black patent bitterness in the flavor- vanilla, burnt chocolate, bourbon, big alcoholic fusel character and a acetaldehyde green apple kick at the end. Meh.

Bottle at PPRBSG09. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma of burnt malt and pretzels. Flavor is overwhelmingly bourbon and sweet malt. Basically it’s just a big mess of bourbon and malt. Yeah, it is pretty terrible...

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at Peter’s NY gathering, I believe shared by beerbill - this beer is a boozy bourbon mess - and I LIKE bourbon - Jim Beam - did they have to choose the Cheez Wiz of bourbon to age this one with? - there is some brown sugar and doughy character, as well as some fig - but mostly it sweet booziness and bourbon - meh.

Pours very black with low carbonation. Smells chocolate-y, sweet, like bourbon. heavy creamy palate, tastes heavy, dark and delicious. It has a bit of spice too. Its really balanced and the alcohol asserts itself really nicely.
