12oz can. Rating #291. Clear golden pour with a big ass white head. Picking up a light sweet spicy aroma, a little vegetal. Flavor was very nice, light wheat with a bit of a spicy character. (1918)

Here’s one of my all-time go-to brews! A delicious, very delicious, pale wheat ale from Big Sky Brewing – the Trout Slayer. Now being an angler at heart, fishing for trout has been something I’ve enjoyed doing since a young lad fishing the banks of the lovely White River in Arkansas. So naturally when I saw this brew I had high hopes for it to be something stellar, and it sure didn’t let me down! I’d put this up against any other brew in the same style and I know it would come out on top! Very well balanced flavors of the bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of the malts. So if you are looking for an excellent all-around brew, give this one a try soon! An excellent pairing with some spicy stuffed duck breasts and wild rice.

Bottle @ home. Fairly clear, golden orange appearance with a white head. Dull grassy, earthy hoppy, crisp, wheat malty nose. Somewhat bitter, grassy hoppy, dull wheat malty flavor. Bleh.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Suttree (3925) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 22, 2011
It always kinda irritates me when someone gets on their high horse about how some style inherently inferior and isn’t worth rating or drinking or whatever. That said, I really do not get filtered wheat ales...

12oz can. Pours a clear light straw color with little to no head. Not much in the way of aroma. Flavor is very light, there is a small bit of spice at the end as well as a nice bite from the carbonation.

Pours yellow, no head, nice aroma floral and hopy. I don’t get much wheat. It tastes pretty dull. Not bad but not much going on.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 rougeau13 (1216) - Texas, USA - AUG 4, 2011
Clear golden with a small, bubbly white head. Sweet aroma of citrus, wheat, coriander and hay. The taste is sweet and yeasty with a touch of hop bitterness and metal. Medium bodied. Pretty decent for a wheat ale, but nothing impressive.

golden with moderate white head. nose of sweet malt. low bitterness before some floral hop flavor with a fair degree of malt sweetness, with the wheat providing a crispness, with an ending that is a bit hgih on the residual sweetness providing a somewhat cloying, but flavorful brew
