2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 eboats (1067) - Omaha, USA - NOV 11, 2007
Bottled. Pours a light clear honey with a white head. Aroma is malt and toasted bread. Flavor is bread like with some toasted notes, and a bitter hop finish. The finish is dry and some part of the bitterness seems out of place. Mouthfeel is good, but it just has a bit too much bread like quality for the flavor. Texture and flavor don’t match.

Pours golden and clear. Grainy wheat malt aroma and mild. Flavor is some wheat malts and light fruity and flower like hop but are faint. medium body for the light style and carbonation is light and smooth. Not a bad one but not a whole lot going on but I’m sure that was the intention.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 BarossaLuke (437) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 7, 2012
A pretty easy drinking ale this one. From the name I wasn’t sure what to expect, a hefeweizen? but no, it is really a session ale, not overly hopped or malty clearly made with wheat. A nice beer, no flaws but nothing spectacular.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 berrya785 (116) - Kansas, USA - APR 20, 2012
UPDATED: APR 27, 2012 Aroma of grain and a small hint of fruit. Pours a pale yellow with a frothy head. Taste is grain with a touch of sweetness. It’s pretty good.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 wxman (959) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2012
Pours a bright clear golden with a sizable white head. Aroma is almost non-existant, maybe spring water and bread dough. Taste is well balanced, but certainly not assertive. There’s sweet malt, breadiness and crisp, yet mild hop bitterness. Definitely a summer thirst quencher, but not particularly memorable.

From a bottle poured a straw color with a fair amount of head. Light malty spicy flavor with a quick finish.

355ml bottle pours a pale straw color with a small white head that leaves very little lacing behind. Aroma is light cereal grains and mild citrus hops. Taste is light citrus with some malty sweetness. Nothing really memorable about this one, just a standard wheat ale.

Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is of citrus, wheat, breadiness and grains. Flavor follows the nose citrus, wheat, grains, breadiness and some musty notes. The body is light with a dry mouth feel. Overall an ok brew, but as with most American Wheat Ales quite disappointing.

Pours a cloudy dark yellow with a quickly fading head. It leaves some lacing around the glass. The aroma seems to be really lacking. It doesn’t do the beer justice. This beer has some decent flavor upfront but finishes rather bland and doesn’t really provide anything exciting. It’s almost like an incomplete brew to me. Maybe next year’s batch will be better?

MY Trout Slayer poured cleanly with a pillowy foam head that adhered to the inside of the glass. I drank a home brew of my own before pouring one of these and the alcohol content of round one was a bit more than I’d expected. Thus I’m looking down into my freshly poured Slayer and admiring the small constellation of peaceful bubbles that have migrated to the center of the head. Perhaps I’m tipsy. Either way, Big Sky’s all star river beer pours straw-to-golden. The entrance is a bit soft rock but the small drum solo at the end is flashy enough to make me a happy fan. Nicely done, Montana.
