Bonus bottle from a long time ago, sitting in my frig waiting. Popped cap and I smell some melanoidins, which i usually like, but seem a little out of place here. Head fades instantly. Yellow color. Lots of bitterness, but not of the good kind. The flavor is not good. The bitterness lingers on my tongue and makes my face cringes the whole time I’m writing this. Yuck.

Jul 17, 2008 12oz a gift from dalekliz, thanks liz. Pours Godle with a big 3 finger bright white head. Nose is sweet and slightly wheaty, taste is wheaty and light and all around decent.

Jul 2, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours hazy orange/yellow with a moderate, fizzy white head, specks of lace. Smells of light malt and some citrus. Tastes malty earthy with some citrus, oranges and the like. Somewhat musty. Thin body, vibrant carbonation. Thin body, vibrant carbonation.

Jun 29, 2008 light, airy aroma, actually reminds me of a freshly cleaned room, like ozone. slight haze, golden and a head that never rose, but refused to leave. anything sweet is quickly fleeting, became dry and dirty, perhaps because big sky’s not making this anymore. astringent finish.

Jun 5, 2008 Let me start by saying that I am judging this beer against the style. I’m not a huge wheat beer fan, but TroutSlayer is delicious. It was pretty clear for a wheat, was yellow in color and the head was composed of big bubbles.
The aroma is what got me. It had a citrus aroma and some herbal smell that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The taste was similar to the aroma, with more of a citrusy character. It was too easy to drink. After this and Moose Drool, I’m becoming a big fan of big Sky.

May 27, 2008 Draft: Golden color pour with white medium sized head. Wheat, grainy aroma with a light hoppy, slightly sweet finish. Not too bad.
